We all know at this time with all the technology with in our reach and the bsy lives we led, we seldom find time to read a good book, pick up a newspaper or magazine.
And we know children are mostly watching TV, play games, etc, but do they still find time to read books, story books, magazines? Except of course they have to read the textbooks at home and there are library time at school.
My nephew who is nine still has time to read books before sleeping, in between TV movies, that is, while the TV shows advertisements, he reads a book.

Kudos to your nephew. You must be a good influence. I am glad reading is an activity. Difficult to make young people read these days. In my country though, there is really an effort to gear the children back into reading. Parents join in school reading activities. And more classic novels had been listed in the syllabuses for high school reading. Yeah!

My mom was the real influence but I had to read to him almost everynight so he can go to sleep. Much better alternative than me singing to him LOL ( been doing that when he was still a baby )
And that's a good one, more reading for the teens.

I'm off-key, too. But you did well reading the children to sleep.

Sadly I don't think children read as much as they used too. I remember when I was young my mum would get me books from the library every week and I was always excited to see what she chose. My friends and I ran book clubs so we could swap good reads and at school we wrote book reviews regularly.
I would love to encourage kids to read more, books I read as a child have impacted me for the rest of my life. I think the Harry Potter books have done a lot to encourage children to read which can only be a good thing.

That's neat that your nephew reads. I like to see kids reading books because it seems so many kids do not. We always buy books for our boys at thrift stores because they are so cheap there usually. Plus sometimes we buy them new books if it is about something they are interested in and give that book as a gift on holidays. I just want the boys to love books and not be stuck on just games and the internet.

That's nice buying books for the holidays instead of the usual toys as gifts. Thanks.
