Yeah, you know. Something comes in your mind and then you just decided, yes go for it? It happened to me just yesterday. I am a person known to think things over and over and over again before embarking into something. I’m not a perfectionist but rather I think, I’m more of being careful and afraid to take risks. I am always trying to live my life on the safer side. But due to being too cautious I have let passed some opportunities that now I am having regrets. But yesterday, while doing my online stuffs I came across something that I feel will be useful for me in the future. I will go back to school and take up medical transcriptionist course. Yes.. This idea just flashed my mind. I know it will be hard for me cause I need to stay in my hometown and I don’t know if my finances can sustain my 6 months of living. The course is for 6 months and it will cause from php 30-40. My monthly expenses already include house rent, electricity, water, food, pet maintenance and other miscellaneous expenses plus the fare in going to school. If it happens that my savings will not make it till 6 months I would have to go back to my family in the city and stop schooling. And that would be a waste of time if I will not finish the course. I do have part-time jobs but not always. So now I will be needing lots of online opportunities to help me earn more. If you have something to share, feel free to do so. This is really a risk for me but I feel if I’m not going to do this, when? Nothing exciting is really happening in my life lately. At my age, it is quite difficult in finding a good job and I feel this is my chance to somehow change my course of life. There are a lot of medical transcriptionist online jobs. I may be taking a wrong turn, I’m not sure but this is what risks is all about, right?

Yes, I have made such decision in life. I worked for a job for about 13 years and it was really fulfilling. But for so many years of working it seems that there is still lacking. Aside from that the job was also not financially satisfying. I already have a family to support so obviously I have to make a decision. I resigned from my job and started with a new one. This time I am already on my own. I started my own business from scratch and with a lot of risk. Luckily everything turned out well. So I guess its just a matter of hard work and making the right decision. I wish you luck in your new endeavor. I know that if you have this determination to succeed, there is always success. So best of luck to you and go for it!

yes iskayz, I opened up a business. Well its not on selling something but its rather more of services. I have been responding to emergencies for the last 13 years in the job. I have opened up a training center which teaches people how to save lives. I conduct training programs for first aid, cpr and safety courses. Its a great thing to teach people the art of saving lives. The good thing is that I can issue completion cards that are accepted internationally, so its really and added plus. Regarding your planned online shop... that would also be great. I have heard that there are people gaining from it, most especially if you are good at promoting. Well once again, my wishes for your great success.

This is great like you ,I stay within my comfort zone and never take risks. I have also lost a lot by being this way.I did however go back to school at 37 to get some chemistry in for work, but they paid making the pressure even harder. Why can't you apply for financial aid ? There are grants for everything dig into some of the online info. on government and the school programs right now,I am sure you can get help. I did medical transcription when working as a medical assistant ,when I got sick they hooked me up to work from home.Lots of opportunities for you right now,I do hope you can take the leap feeling good about it and can find, some financial aid to ease they burden of money. What you are doing is a win /win situation you cannot go wrong or be unsafe in doing this for yourself. You will see everything about your life will feel a bit better ,taking this chance! Good Luck

So currently you are a medical transcriptionist. It's really a nice job, right? With regards to financial aid, yes, I will try to check out government programs if there are available for MT courses. There is what we call TESDA, a government institution and it offers free training courses. All I need is to take exams to qualify. This is really something big for me and I am really excited. If it's not holiday today in my country I have gone my way in inquiring at schools already. Thanks for the good luck!

Good for you! Sometimes just going for it is the only way to make it..or at least know if you can or not. I have made a couple of "go for it" kind of choices. I can be a bit unpredictable at times. Some of them have worked out for the best and some of them not so great but in the end..I tried and I knew. Take care my friend and good luck with your venture!

Yeah you're right Jen.. I'd rather go for the risk rather than kept on wondering if I can make it or not. I also would like to discover as to what extent my abilities are. By the way, hows the teacup puppy doing?

DEFINITELY do the MT course! I spent a few hundred years ago training to be a fitness instructor - and got a lot of work out of it. More than enough to pay off my fees. I'm now saving to take a journalism course - £4000! I know it will pay for itself so I'm going ahead. At the moment I don't touch type but I'm learning that, as well as shorthand - at 51. You're never too old - don't believe the "old dogs" adage. We can all learn new "tricks" no matter how old (or menopausal) we are!

Oh so you're a fitness instructor? Do you work on gyms or a personal trainer? You know, reading your response it inspired me to take up another course after my MT. You're 51 and yet you don't stop in learning new things. I'm not too old to stop and wait for good things to happen. I'll make it happen.

I did everything - gym work, aerobics, personal training. My last course was to teach ante and post natal exercise, and I took that when I was 6 months pregnant - with twins! Our "follow up" session was when the twins were three months old. Everyone had a feel of my tummy to see the muscle separation - I was the class "guinea pig!" Nowadays, I have a quieter life, and if I took the career up again I'd have to retrain (things move fast, as they do in all industries) People think PTs earn a lot, but a lot of the money goes back into training - you have to be up-to-date. I gave it up due to ill health (not due to overtraining, a common problem for gym instructors) but it gave me a good grounding for my next career. Lots of sports people and coaches turn to writing when they "retire" from "active service" so that's where I'm headed next. I've a yearn to be a sports journalist for a local paper, and luckily my local paper (the Argus) guarantees work to those who take the course - it's well credited. That's the only thing I'd advise - make sure your course is accredited to a recognised foundation. Mine is recognised by the NUJ, but plenty of writing courses are only recognised by the people running them. In the UK, if I was doing transcription work I'd contact the NHS for advice on recognised or accredited courses. It's easy to get ripped off otherwise. I'm sure you've done this already - you seem to have your head screwed on tight! Good luck!!!

Yes I have done my research and the school is accredited. I will still be inquiring on another computer schools cause I think enrolling on a computer is more advantageous. But I'm afraid it might be more expensive. But either way, I will still take up the MT course. Besides, I don't want to just spend my savings on things that will not help me in the future. Taking up MT course might be expensive but can give helpful results. I just know!

If it is something to better your life the so-called risk is worth it. Dont succum to those thoughts that might prevent you. It is natural to be scary of things you will have to deny yourself with. The bottomline is that at the end you find yourself being much fulfill doing what you love. Ride on pls

Oh yes fellow lotter, I will ride on as you said hehe! I will pursue this risk. This is a new adventure for me after years of just being in a shell. As a matter of fact I went out of my and inquired at schools today. I was tired but all went well. I have found some who offers and I will be just choosing the class schedule that would fit my time. I'd probably go for the Saturdays and Sundays schedule. I still would like to be able to work on my part-time job every weekdays.

Yes, it is normal that once you try something and it doesn't work out, then you try out for the next best things there is that interest you. I am just like you not a very big risk taker and little picky than I was years ago. There are thing I wish I had studied in college first because I know I am good at. But then what block my risk of trying is the fact people would tell me what is best or better. They told me I could not make a living do study in Art. I find out after getting an Associate in Administrative Assistant, that there are tons of things I can do. That why is upset me that you just want to scream and said HELLO THIS IS MY FUTURE AND NOT YOURS. I would also give you advice find something that make money now and try your best in all you can. It worth trying and seeing what come out of it. I have work at job that I lost interest in and there were some that I really like but not paying me enough. So I am in the same boat trying to make a living. Now starting this site, I hope it help me a bit to get the itty bitty change in my pocket never know. Give it a shot and study transcriptionist, and keep your faith up. My mother love that job but she hasn't started any online job for transcriptionist yet. I'm not interested in medical field but only Art. Age has nothing to do with getting a job, you can find anything to do. Just learn more and do it. My father tell me it better to try than do nothing at all. And Give it your Best Shot. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice sweetart! Your username fits you, your love for art. What my family would say is also the reason why I didn't tell them of my sudden decision taking MT course. I know they will raise those eyebrows and ask why, which I feel I don't have to explain to them. They will only tell me to go back to the city with them and do what? Nothing but just take care of the house. They might only discourage and confuse me. I will tell them why not, but when I'm already enrolled and that they can't do anything about it. I will try to make it. Financially it will be hard but I can be frugal even more just to make this one happen.

Are you a professional web designer or you just know how to design webs? If it's a talent, use it. It could be the start of a business or a job. You can earn from designing webs. I don't you need much thought doing it if you really know how.

You are right. I say do it, and do your best! Like you said, you feel like you have let opportunities pass you before, so I think the fact that you decided to grab this one is good. Right now I am freelancing as a webdesigner and at the same time helping out in our family business. I haven't given much thought to webdesigning at all... it was always just a hobby that I enjoyed and this friend of mine thought I was pretty good and got me a job! It happened pretty fast, and now I've been working for almost 2 months now.
