Do you think women should be treated differently from men?

This question could mean things two different ways. I'm asking about both. The first way is, should men respect women, in the sense that they open car doors and pay for things and stuff? The second way is, which I don't approve of, should men be allowed to think that women are practically toys, and treat them like slaves. What I mean is, women can have educations and suff too, so should they be allowed to just think that they can think they are the only smart ones, and the women are just there for the cooking and the cleaning and taking care of the kids. Note: I am NOT saying that all men do this. I am just saying should the men that do it be allowed to do it?

If a man does those curtious things like opening a door for someone and stuff i think he should do it for everyone and not just woman. Its stupid for a woman to expect such things when they demand to be treated equally because that shows inequality.I strongly feel that woman should be partners and not slaves but they should not expect such curtious behaviour but it be provided for them to express how much you adore and cherish them. That also means in a good relationship the woman should find things that she can do to return the favor. And such curtious behaviour is just a favor don't expect it. If anybody who happens to read this has something to say please do if you think im wrong tell me why if you think im right do the same.

I don't have a problem with a guy opening a door for me. I don't feel entitled to it, but I don't see chivalry as undermining equality. I certainly wouldn't whack a guy over the head with my "I am Woman, Hear Me Roar" stick if he opened a door a pulled out a chair. I also wouldn't see it as disrespectful to me as a woman if they didn't give me those gender specific courtesies, as long as they were courteous, period.
The second, of course I don't think men should be allowed to treat women as slaves or toys.

Well being an old guy raised in the USA I think girls were treated with much respect as a youngster I was raised to open doors and let the women go first and treat them different than men! However over the years women have demanded equal rights! That's fine and I understand that, so I now give them that. I treat them more like men, but still have the old school respect for them as the child bearer of the family and realize they are different! Hope this doesn't offend anyone! tdemex

I believe some things are just the wifes duty like cooking and cleaning but I do believe we should go to school and we should be independent having our own money and beliefs. I want to be someone's partner not their slave.

I am a woman and I should be respected by men. They should open doors, pull out chairs and not treat us like toys.As for paying for stuff, I think it should be equal. Sometimes he pays, sometimes you pay or just go in half & half. If women start respecting themselves and not allowing men to disrespect them then maybe this will change.
