I Quit My Job

Was working for a sporting facility for the last 8 years. Had enough and quit the job 3 weeks ago. So far, so good. Am now staying at home and doing some small sites on the computer to earn a little bit. Have you ever had a job that you loved for several years, had enough of the bs (slang for garbage), pondered leaving for about a year and finally quit? What were your reasons for leaving?

Hi carolbee, I was on job for 2 and a half years and was not rewarded for my sincere work there. So I was not able to stay there and I was forced to a situation to leave that job. I had a good reputation amoung my friends but the situation was worse and I had not a good money for a good living. But after that I got into a very good concern and I left there too due to my health conditions and now I am earning online and its pretty going smoothly till I get the next nice one... Cheers... Have a nice day always...

I've had a few jobs that I quit but only because my back eventually didn't agree to the work and it was either bear the pain or quit and get complete bedrest till it healed. I've always gotten along with my fellow workers though. Good luck finding a new job, Carol, for they are very hard to come by unless you have a ton of experience in certain fields.

The recent job I quit also required all standing. I also have a bad back and it was killing me. I hurt all the time and it wasn't worth it. I have 3 bulging disks and arthritis of the spine now. No surgery has been suggested. I wouldn't do it anyway. So, while I was working my buns off, I had epidurals in order to go to work. Just not worth it. I also got along extremely well with fellow employees at every job I've worked. Know how? I agreed with whatever they wanted to do or wanted me to do....lol Thanks for responding.

Same here! I can't stand/walk for extended periods and repeated bending/lifting is 10 times worse. That's why my paper routes are perfect for me and won't quit them unless I'm forced to.

I will be happy being home as long as I can have some adult interaction with live humans part of the day. I am a real people person and feel the need to get out and about sometime throughout the day to mingle. My husband is here in the evening but busy watching television or playing with his cell phone..lol Thanks for responding.

I left the job I really like 4 years ago. I handle the position for almost 5 years, I left because I was burn out of the routine job I am doing. I cannot foresee myself doing the same job for the next 10 years. I love the job thou because I have met a lot of people in which up to now I still keep my contact with. I have also created a very personal attachment to some of my colleagues in which up to now has been my friend and these are people whom I know I can count on. Currently, what I am right now as a worker has to be credited from my previous work.

Sometimes it's hard to leave a job you like. I can also relate to the being there for a long period of time and not wanting to be there. Thanks for responding.

Oh well this is my story. After working with the same company for more than 16 years this week I had a lot of problems. When the directors are away I take over and after returning from our summer holidays we had a lot of work to complete. While checking the company vehicles location on an on-line system I noticed that one of the employee was at his home and he spent over 2hrs there while he had to be doing other jobs. So I called him and asked why he was not doing his job, his reaction was to come back at our company and in an aggressive manner he claimed that I was no-one and that I have no authority to check what he is doing, ended up in a fight. The next day my car was vandalized. I did not report for work for the past 3 days in order to avoid ending up in prison. Sometimes it is better not to bother at all since you end up to become the victim although doing your job.

Lately I also had such kind of thought. I wasn't happy at work because of our crazy and moody boss. I thought about quitting the job, too. But I hesitated because right now I was not a single person. I want my family to have a better life, and I am not sure whether it's easy for me to find a job because of the bad economy right now. If I quit the job, I don't know whether I can start to do some business. The future is unknown. So right now I let it be, if I really can't bear it, I may quit it at last. But meanwhile I will think about doing something else to earn as a try. I love China

Oh I've had jobs that I wish I could leave but never been in a financial position to just up and quit. I have stuck with jobs that I absolutely hate just to make sure I pay the rent and put food on the table. I would quit a job that I hate but not before finding a job to take it's place. I'm glad you were in the spot to do that. No one should have to put up with the BS.

Things were happening at work that turned me off, totally. Since I am not the main breadwinner in the family and didn't carry the health insurance, it was ok for me to quit. Am glad I did. It's a difficult decision when your family's best interest depends on your income. Thanks for responding.

Well,I should say that it is really incredible, you know,I have been working for an IT company for only 2 years, but it seemed much longer to me.Well they did pay me well, but problem is that as a sale, your working hours is too uncertain, sometimes,I have to work all night long, while sometime,I did not have any weekend. Then what 's worse was that you could not be yourself, everything you did won't go agaist with boss, and you got to satifify all clients. So at last,i had have enough and quit, that is my story.

I worked a part time job for 18 years..never missed work...etc. Well when summer would come all the other part timers wanted to have off so they could go play....well I worked many a summer by myself or with a skeleton crew then when fall arrived they all wanted more hours.....so after a very busy summer of being the lone ranger they gave all the hours to those who returned....and took some of mine away....so I pondered over what to do....tossed and turned then realized I hadn't cashed a check in a year....put them all in savings....so I quit. So went to work one night and they said they had gotten scr*wed up about when someone wanted to return and how many nights of theirs would I want....I told them none...and that when the schedule was done so was I.....they never even said thank you for being a good employee.....not one day has went by where I think of any of them....never missed the place after I left....they called me to come down and get my last check and that is the last time I went into the place!

Basically the same thing happened to me. I worked Sunday mornings for 7 years. THey were taken away from me. Ok, so I dealt with it. College kids came back for the summer and the boss began to give my hours to them. I said I would be available to work the entire month of July. They scheduled me to work 2 days. I also thought about it for a long time and decided it was bs. Out the door I went and never looked back. I quit without giving them notice, not the way I do things, and did it via email. Other things were going on that I was taught never to do such as take things that weren't mine. I saw others do it and kept my mouth shut. My boss tried to contact me last weekend after I'd been gone for over 2 weeks. I returned his call but he didn't call back. That's ok I left without having a guilty conscious about anything. It was a part time job with no benefits anyway. Simply hourly pay that was barely above minimum. I will work on crafts this winter or stay home and get fat. Both are good...lol Thanks for responding.

Hi carol! I had quite a few jobs that that I hated and was in fact abused, taken advantage of and some I quit, but others I made them fire me! That was the only way I could collect unemployment and be able to find another job! I had some really horrible jobs working with attorneys! They are some of the most miserable people on this earth to work for! At my last job I was getting physically and emotionally ill from the abuse and stress!

I can understand your leaving. Stress from a job is just not worth it. I really didn't try to make them fire me. Wanted to get out of there and move on. I took an early retirement which is what my husband wanted me to do. I worked for 3 psychologists once upon a time and almost lost my mind. Had to get out of there so I quit after almost 4 years. Surprised I took it that long..lol Thanks for responding.

I've had jobs in the past that I would've LOVED to have quit but I just couldn't. It was my only way of supporting myself at the time, so I had to stick with it. If you're looking for more ways to earn money online, check out my website. The link is in my profile :-)

I am a member of several of the sites you mention on your profile page. I can take it easy this winter and grow old..lol Or shall I say older. My husband works full time and he carries the benefits so we are ok. I'll just take it easy and do a couple of online sites that I do daily. Thanks for responding.

i left my previous job due to toxic from job.. over pressured.. problem with my relationship to my co-workers, its not easy to have a very jealous coworker who will do anything just to put you down. then sometimes im thinking that the pay i received was not enough for the effort i give... its like im only killing myself.. though theres millions of job out there waiting for you. sometimes some people are afraid to quit their job afraid of being un-employed as they need money for their basic needs.. but me, when i decided to quit my job im still happy right now coz even though i dont have that much money atleast my life is so relax. i didnt worry of money at all. coz money is everywhere. not just the job can give you money.. like me.. i have lots of sideline.. i started to managed my own time.. im into retailing right now.. they said i will only earn small from it.. but then, think about it... even if my salary is big. less other deductions like SSS, BIR, Philhealth, PAGIBIG and etc and including my transportation and food since food outside is more expensive than to cook at home.. unless you will bring your own cooked food.. but in our office.. no one do that... there are other things to do while managing your own time. at first, it will start from small since your just started, but in due time with your hard work, you can't never tell that you already have a small business and might become big someday...
