Are you a member of a book club?

I'm curious as to how many of you out there are members or have been members of a book club?
I am hoping to start one and really am not sure what direction I want to go in. I know it's going to be a girl's book club. We all enjoy reading chick lit and a few other genres.
We're trying to decide if we want to have a theme like not only a book club but also a chance to try new coffee shops or a chance to do wine tastings, etc.
So I'd love to hear your experiences and ideas about a book club! Maybe something that could spark some ideas my way!!

I wish I could say that I am. However my tastes are so varied and not always so mainstream that I think it would be a little harder for me to find a book club that would read the type of books I read. Not that I don't read some of the mainstream books, just not that many in comparison.
But as far as extra things the club could do. Well I think the trying different coffee shops is a good idea. Where I live there are a lot of small independent coffee shops, most especially downtown. Though that could be because of the rather large University we have here. I know I always enjoy going to the different coffee shops as some of them have really nice atmospheres.
