Would you give people benefit of the doubt?

Say you started a great discussion on mylot. The next day someone posts the same discussion as you did with only a little change of words. Would you believe they just happen to think up the same topic as you or would you think they stole it.

There have been many suspected cases of copied discussions. In my case I would regard it as a coincidence, because sometimes several people have the same idea. On the other hand the poster should have made a search to see whether the topic has recently been posted or not. After all this is what we are supposed to do. I would give the benefit of the doubt if the new discussion is taken from a different angle. Otherwise the suspicion or assumption will always be there. Actually I am not worried about such incidents because I have faith in myLot. Sooner or later they will act on it. I have seen one discussion touching on the same subject as a discussion posted a few hours earlier being deleted. So I never, at least so far, worry about it, even though the copycat seems to get a better reception.

I would think they stole it. I would ask them, and if they said they didn't, and I knew they were telling the truth I would let it be, but if they were not, i would report it, because it's not right to plauguarize.
