I tried to use facebook to promote my blog website but I don't get traffic

As an internet marketer I have done a lot of free promotion on facebook,it did not generate traffic to my site,how about you?Is it that I did not do it the right way.
What do you have to say about this?

I don't think posting your links in facebook to your friends will generate much traffic. After all, some may view your link as a spam in a social website.
