I am trying a new recipe of my mothers. I have no minutes on my phone to call her. And, I for got to ask her: when making a shrimp and pasta salad, which must be chilled before serving, must I cook the peas before I put them in with all the other ingredients?

Peas should be cooked unless you are using canned peas (which are not as good as fresh or frozen ones. Take care!

hi lybra 2266 actually I have seen it made both ways and to'my own taste I think its better if the peas you used are frozen and you just let them thaw. they are already lightly cooked anyway. if you use fresh peas you just need to steam them for a minute or two otherwise they will be mushy. cool them off of course before puting in a shrimp and pasta salad then chill as usual. if using frozen peas, judt let them come to room temp,no need to cook,. for raw just a few minutes otherwise they get mushy and taste odd.
