Where are all the Democrats who complained when Bush went to Martha's Vineyard?

I'm going to start this discussion by saying that I don't have a problem with the Obama family taking the last leg of their vacation at Martha's Vineyard. The job of president can be done from anywhere, not just the Oval Office. When the president "vacations" he doesn't take whole days or weeks off. Part of every "vacation" day is interruped by the business of being the president. That was true when Bush was president too. The difference is, when the Bush family went to Martha's Vineyard the Democrats and the incompetent press raised a huge stink. They said that it was "elitist" and "out of touch" Bush was for going to places like Martha's Vineyard in "these bad economic times". It got so bad that Prs. Bush's advisors told him to quit taking such vacations. After that, his vacations were pretty much limited to Camp David and his ranch. So, my question is, where are all the people who complained about Bush? Obama isn't doing anything different than Bush did for vacation, but the feigned outrage is conspicuously missing.

I will admit that I was still a teen for the majority of Bush's terms, so I wasn't one of the Democrats that complained, but I think that there is a huge difference because Bush took so many vacations, he took a whole month off to go to his ranch in Texas. And there is also a different connotation because both Barack and Michelle made a lot of money before politics, because they were smart and successful, not because of their daddy or daddy-in law. Still, I don't really care about what other people do with their money, but no way am I gonna compare Obama to Bush on the vacation thing, not until Obama makes a statement saying all people need to be focused and serious about getting Bin Laden, and then the next breath say "hey now look at me as I tee off" (something that Bush did)

Right, in this case it is We need to reform healtcare now!! Look at all the poor people without insurance, now watch me drop 10grand on a bracelet for my wife... It is all the same, these people have a lot of cash and they spend it. For you and I eeking it out for $10 worth of mylot credit it seems extravagant, but that is just because we are not playing in the same league.

Actually... Obama just ordered 17,000 more troops to Afghanistan, and is now "teeing off". Obama has only been in office for 6 months, but already has logged 2 trips to Camp David, a weekend getaway to take in a broadway play, a 4 day sightseeing/town hall trip out west where he and his family enjoyed the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, and fishing in Montana; and in Paris, France. Five getaways in 6 months? Note: I'm not judging these good, bad or indifferent. I'm merely point out facts in response to your comment.

That's the problem right there gum. They are in a different league, they don't understand what the rest of us are dealing with or going through. We need to vote all of them out and put in some people who ARE in the same league as us.

Kind of a Bush did it too, but inverted. Those that complain about Bush do not complain about Obama when he does the same things. That for instance Cindy Sheehan, when she went to Crawford ranch the media was behind her supporting her. Now Cindy is going up to Martha and we hear, "Shut up Cindy, we have heard enough". I do not know how many remember seeing photos of Bush as Hitler, yet when someone creates an Obama as in Joker, they are un-American.

Haha,I heard about Cindy going to Martha's now. Can't stand that woman, but you have to admire her persistence and the fact she doesn't look the other way just because a Democrat is in office now.

Since Obama said he would warranty our cars, can I go to Martha's Vineyard for my oil change? I agree with you, I dont care where they vacation, the Presidency is a very stressful job and I do not begrudge the man a vacation. But your right, where is that media now? Oh yea! there heads are stuck up barry's a55, they probably don't even realize where they are.

Ted, I don't recall being upset with where Bush took vacations, I was just upset with the amount of time he spent on vacation. In his first 200 days in office he spent more days on vacation, then in Washington. I agree with you that the job of president can be done anywhere, and I think we all know it is a hard job. But, I think most of us get upset when we see congress and the president on vacation so much, when most of us can't go on vacation at all.
