Typing speeds

I just did a typing speed test today, and found out that it was 98wpm (: Is that fast or normal? (: Frankly, I wouldn't care about typing speed much if only I could increase my accuracy. However, I hear that some new secretary posts or administrative positions take that into account when they employ people.

I've done a typing test before but it didn't mention my words per minute. It was a specific test for a data entry job and they only counted how many of the task cards you could enter within the time supplied. You needed to enter the cards in 25 seconds or less, and I got an average of 20 seconds. Accuracy needed to be 96 percent or more, and I got 98.2% so I am pretty pleased with my results .

i feel that since going to polytechnic, my typing speed and accuracy have improved alot! however, my classmates are better at typing than i am! one of them used to work in a magazine, and her tying speed was about 120wpm. thats fast! she is really accurate too! i'm growing long nails, and love the sound of the nails hitting the keyboards. it sounds so busy and grown up! my wpm is rather slow, about 49? (slow, i know!;( ) however, i am more accurate than my siblings! i can type without looking at the keyboard, which is one thing they admire about me!

Speed is good. Accuracy is better. 70 correct words per minute is better thsn 98wpm with 20 errors. Good luck. Keep up the good work.

98 is very fast. I think I do alright with 65 words per minute. As you said though, accuracy is important as well. It is true there are many administrative positions these days that will have you take a typing test.
