Have anyone been in a heated argument or disagreement with your boss? Can you win? Remember, there "Two Rules of My Boss and I." Rule No:1 My boss is always is right. Rule No:2 If my boss is wrong, refer to Rule No:1 These are further regulations laid down by my boss: 1. If I take a long time, I am slow. If my boss takes a long, he is being thorough. 2. If I please my boss, I am apple-polishing my boss. If my boss pleases his boss, that is co-operation. 3. If do not do it, I am lazy. If boss does not do, he is too busy. 4. If I make a mistake, my boss never forgets. If my boss makes a mistake, he is human. 5. If I have done a good job, my boss never remembers. If my boss has done a good job, that is pure genius. Are you one of those bosses or those of those subordinate? Pen your view.

Hello James KYTan, What an interesting concept between you and your boss. As for me, where ever I worked, I am always right. If I am wrong, refer to number ONE! That explains why I am not in the workforce for long. I am now 'working' as a mother and wife at home, so the rule still applies. But somehow, being a mother, I always learn new things everyday. So I can safely say I am no longer always right. But as a wife, YES, I am always right!

Hi there James, The two rules can only be applied to my husband. Not to my son. He has a mind of his own! And I only applied the rules to my husband after he officially married me! Previously, I was an angel to him! LOL..

You said that previously you were any to him. But now based on your discussion I gathered that you are still an angel to him. He will really go all out to make sure you have everything. GBU.

Yes boss! You are right. This rule rules in almost every company in every part of the world. I have heard about such rules even from my friends too. Luckily for me,I was able to throw this rule out of the window on the very first day of my employment. From the very first day I and my boss hit it off like a house on fire. I was in college when I took up my first job as a part-time clerk. By the time I finished my college, I had become a sort of mini boss to my sub-ordinates. I had become the manager of the company. My company started making profits in crores which was a rare till then. I was getting offers from other competitors with a blank paycheque, the figure was left for me to fill in. I used to return it with a smile saying you can't afford me. In two years time even the boss started singing my tunes. This did bring out little resentment in the boss's family. Once they did manage to influence him to question my integrity. I thundered back saying the only difference between the boss and me was the table that lay between us. Any decision taken by either of us was always ment to be in the best interest of the company. The silence that followed was resounding. Next day my boss apologized. That was the first and last confrontation we ever had. After two years my boss expired and I left my company for good. After that I became my own boss.

You have become a boss. Congratulation and jubilation, as the song goes. Hope you don't practise 'The Two Rules' and 'My boss and I.' Please be a good Boss. Practise Leadership by Example and Management By Objective. Cheers!

So true! I guess it's a fine line between giving in to your boss because you believe she/he is right and giving in to your boss because you might get into trouble otherwise! I have worked as a boss in the past and I must admit, it was not always easy to give in/agree to what a colleague had to say, especially when it contrasted with my point of view. But, I found that when I was fair in my dealings, people sensed that and respected me for it. I also found that I could 'agree to disagree' and retain my dignity in the process.

A good boss is well-liked by his subordinates. He can be obliging and yet firm with those he is dealing. In this way he can get things done faster. It requires diplomacy and tact to deal with your employees. As you say 'agree to disagree'help a lot. Happy myLotting.

Bosses and the subordinates usually have the bullying kind of situations in a private firm. The head try to be the superior of all and makes the juniors do all the tough jobs.Helping the boss also doesn't make any difference ,the boss lets that go out and make new orders.

Boss-subordinate relationship is very difficult to culture in a human resource point of view as we are looking into people and people always change. Most bosses always say we work for them and not with them.If problem crops out, employees have to solve it themselves, not the boss. If we work together with the boss, any problem we encountered we will brain-stormed to come to a collective decision. Thank you for for contribution and be a good boss.

Your boss is an idiot. A boss like that needs a robot and a dog. Why waste money on an inteligent human being.

A boss doesn't think. His subordinates think for him. That is why he employs employees to think for him.A boss doesn't work. His workers work for him.

oh yeah had gotten into with two old bosses. one thought he could call me any names that he wanted, i wasn't about to sit there and take it from him so i gave it back to him. told him everyone else here might sit here and take it for whatever reason, but i refuse to allow you to cruiss me like this, so it went back and forth yeah i got fired after calling him a few choice names lol. then my other one thought he talk to me like a kid, and told me once he will talk to me like his my dad, yeah that didn't go over well. i told him in front of his boss i am not your son, you are not good enough to ever be my dad, if you want me to respect you then you better respect me like a man. the last night i grabbed him by his tie and tried to pull him the glass, yeah got fired from there too. i just refuse to kiss anyone butt allow them talk down to me like a peice of crap. when i was a boss if i had a issue with one of my workers i would take them to the side and talk with them

You are so daring to confront your boss in front of his boss.I usually give him some face-saving. To grab your boss by his tie and pull him down will mean the end of you.He has fired you. You are right, a good boss should talk privately to the worker alone. So after a bad experience, you have become a good boss who understands the needs of the workers. Thank you for your response.

I have this kind of boss. She was always right, she always get the credit for my ideas. If she fails, it's because she is not a superwoman to take care of everything. This set up is fine with me because I feel more blessed than her. Her marriage is in the merge of breaking while I have a wonderful family support. Her career is the most precious thing she has right now. I know I can always find a new job but my family is irreplaceable. Maybe most of the boss are like mine, they have unsuccessful marriage life. Lets piety them.

Hi larish, Like I say the boss is always right. The boss always get the credits if the project done by you is very successful. If it a failure, then he/she will point finger at you. Why have you fail me? I want a full report before 5:00pm. Sometimes,it the boss's failed marriage that she/he bring to the working life that worsen it. Anyway you are really blessed with a good family support. God bless you.

This means bosses are always winners. If not they will ask, "Who is the boss? You or I.?" Then implement right away. Make sure do it good or else I want 'Your resignation letter on my table tomorrow first thing in the morning.'Sounds familiar to most of us? Thank you.
