Why close down ANY GM or Chrysler dealerships?

This really does not make any sense. We have high unemployment, and the plan is to close down auto dealership which would create more unemployment. Why did not banks that excepted TARP money have to close branches? That would have actually made more sense. Dealerships are independent businesses, where bank branches are actually apart of the bank corporation.

Carson, I find it so funny how republicans wanted the big three shut down UNTIL, it effect their own coffers. FACT, over 80% of car dealers in the United States donated to the republican party. Thus, the automakers are going to close one or two dealers that donated money to the RNC. This wasn't political, it was business. The more dealers ment more shifting of cars, and there are dealers out that don't sell 10 cars or trucks a year. There were other factors like locations, if you have three dealers with in a mile of each other than why do this? You also have to look at their service history, some of these dealers were giving the automaker a bad name. Would you want someone out there giving you a bad name, and still working for you? The other thing is financing, the vast majority of cars financed by the dealers is through either GMAC, or Ford financal. So the less accounts you have, the less employees you need to track them, so you can cut back. You have told me many a time that you own your own business, does any of this stuff make sense to you? I don't OWN my own business, but I run one, and this makes perfect sense to me.
