Why Does Sexism Still Exist?

Canada

In this day and age, if someone were to call a black person a n***er, a word which I happen to find to be one of THE MOST OFFENSIVE WORDS in ANY language, all hell would break loose. There is also freedom to practice religion, even if it interferes with the day to day life of the country (case in point, here in Canada, some Seik members of the RCMP and other police forces want to wear their turbans instead of the regular police hats, but would they allow a non Seik to wear a Western style hat if a turban was part of the uniform in their country?), some pockets of the USA in the FUNDAMENTALIST LDS church (not to be confused with mainstream Mormons) still practice polygamy, even though it's technically illegal... ...and yet WOMEN still struggle for equality!!!!! Take a look at the last election. There were actually KKK members who would vote for Barack Obama before they'd vote for Hillary Clinton, because atleast Obama was MALE. What's the deal with that? In this era of political correctness, and even though sexism is obviously recognized, why is it still less of an issue that racism, and freedom of religion? Why do men still rule the world?

Because men don't experience it. A black man can experience racism and he will take the correct actions to stop it, plus here in the United States it is illegal to discriminate against color of skin. Black women experienced racism and supported the men that stood up to do something about it because they felt the pain. Men haven't really experienced sexism and so they don't feel the pain to support women in their fight. I experienced sexism all the time when I worked in contruction and men did not believe that a woman could know anything about building houses and using tools luckily my brother worked in the same field (I was his boss) and he stuck up for me.

Exactly, so why would there be a big movement to change the thoughts of men especially the older ones and the ones stuck in male dominated fields.

Show me a woman who can. I'm not sexist at all but I think it stands to reason that a woman would never send her babies off to war but a man wouldn't think twice about carrying on a fighting legacy. There are strong women in this world and most of them run corporations or lead fatherless families to great triumphs. Men don't rule the world, God does. It is the actions of men that are recognized more than womens are, its not sexism, women don't go for the glory, men do, maybe that's why you see them thanking "mom" when they achieve something. Men know who gave them life.

Because some people don't get it. they Stillbelieve that men are better than women and their race is better than any others. The good news is that most of us don't believe all this B.S. Sadly I believe there will be some who won't see it the way we do.

Well, it depends because in the back of every powerful men there is a powerful women. Is not a matter of who is in charge ,but a partnership between two sexes.

December 1,1955,when the 42-year-old black woman on the bus Rosa refused to stand up for white your seat, she opened up a whole to stand up tp fight for human rights struggle era.parks refused to whites in violation of your seat the apartheid I aws,so she was immediately arrested. In 1956,the U.S.Supreme Court ruled that the practice of racial segregation on buses unconstitutional. This eventually led to the 1964 "Federal Civil Rights Act,"the introduction of the bill to prohibit racial discrimination in public places.

Your right. In spite of the fact that women have shown time and time again that women can do anything a man can do we still are not considered equal. Women who do succeed have to work twice as hard and often for half the pay that men get.But our fight for equality seems to have led to a lack of respect. Is it because men are afraid of losing their power? All we want is to be treated as equals - not ahead of or behind a man. To walk side by side. Is that so much to ask? Maybe men still want to be cavemen and just take what they want because they are usually physically stronger.

I do believe that sexism still exists but will revert back to the old days when women were burning bras - why would I want to be equal to them when I'm above them? Ok, socialogy class in high school 1973 :) My thinking is I like having doors opened for me, love being put up on a pedistal and 'protected', I enjoy taking care of my family & home (when I was afforded that pleasure) and don't see anything at all wrong with it. I also saw the time when the single white male was bottom of the pile - companies had to have so many 'minority' employees females and different races other than 'white' so those groups were being offered more money for equal jobs. What can I say except it's a messed up world and don't think we'll every get it straightened out so everyone is pleased - at least not the way humans think.

Hang on there... there were women that would vote for Hillary (and Sara Palin) because she is a woman. Where's the logic in that. As for the "N" word, which I agree is extremely offensive, the worst abusers of that word in my experience are black people themselves. Personally I'd be quite happy to let women run the world. Then we men could get on with doing what we do best - nothing! LOL.
