is this a better option after you can't locate your nail cutter?? i saw a t.v program here in our place conducting a survey of how many percent are doing this and the answer was 75%, see this?? so therefore a lot of people prefers to bite their nails if they can't locate their nail cutters... i do it also but not all the time, because i do have my nail cutter on my wallet so it is very easy for me to locate it and use it directly on my nails..! how about you people, are you one of the person in the survey?? do you bite them all the way without using a nail cutters?? thanks friends..

1 in 20 times i cut my nails with a nail cutter, i always chew my nails off even if i think of growing them on some party or occassion when my nails grow up i feel heavy at my tips.So this is also one reason why i chem my nails and when i get angry or i am sad and depressed i chew my nails that time.I hardly cut my nails when i see that they are shapeless and atleast now i should cut them.

There seems to be a shortage of nail cutters in your country. Or there is some nail biting stuff happening in your country. I once tried to bite my nails when I was a child. It was just out of curosity. I have not bitten my nails ever since. It seems so mannerless when someone is biting their nails.

Vanillarey..You got that right. I wonder what is up with the nail bitting. I don't and never will bite my nails. To me that is so nasty to see someone doing that. I did like you try it once and got into so much trouble that it wasn't worth the problem. You have a good day and keep smiling.

i remember when i was in school and the checking of nails were going on and my nails were grown up. the worst thing was that the people caught up with long nails were taken to the principal. so i quickly bite the nails and was free from caught. my teeth helped me in that case but its unhygenic and should not be practised.

Hehehe,, i also experienced that way back in elementary and it really helped a lot for me not to be punished by sitting in the air, that was so shamed if i was caught.. Thanks for dropping by..

My nails are fragile enough that I can rip them off. But I prefer a nail cutter because sometimes they don't go straight and I bleed. Also not good if someone has diabetes and other problems where an infection could be dangerous. A person doesn't want to loose their fingers because they cut their nails wrong. Many people don't know they have diabetes until something dangerous happens.

Hi janbeth, they either just break off or I clip them, I can't believe so many people bite their nails, I think it's a disgusting habit especially when people do it in public. It really shows their nervousness. Children should be stopped from doing this immediately they start as it is a terrible habit but if left unchecked will continue.

As for me i am basically like being lazy, and i dont cut me finger nails using nail cutter, i dont use my teeth either. I go to play often, and we play cricket with a hard ball, so when i am fielding i get the nails coming off most of the times. sometimes during opening a tight container lid, or doing some lifting work using hands or with great force my finger nails collide, they get torn off, a little blood shows of, but it does not hurt that much. Sometimes, half the nail gets cut and a sharp part remains, at that time i use my teeth, to remove it, nowadays, my teeth have become sensitive to the biting, so i use cutters

i don't think it's a good habit cutting your nails with your teeth. our nails accumulates dirt and germs and if we cut them with our teeth, we can never know what desease we can get. i rather wait for some times before i can find the cutter but not cut my nails with my teeth. Ewwww!

When I was in elementary, my teacher used to scold me when I have long nails. So whenever I can't find a nail cutter I would bite my nails to make it shorter. But this developed into a habit and up to now I can't break it off.

I don't think it is a good practice to bite nails. Be careful, after sometime it will become a habit and it will be hard for you to come out of it. I know a friend who has the habit of biting nails. She is 27 years old and she knows that it is odd to do that, but she can't come out of it. She does it especially when she is stressed.

I cannot STAND to bite my nails. It makes me sick for a few reasons, but the worst thing is how they get jagged when you bite them. If I break a nail and don't have access to clippers it drives me nuts. I find myself scraping the nail on my jeans and things to try to file it down. The feeling just makes me sick. If the place I'm at has scissors I'll use them just to even it up and get rid of that jaggedness. My mom bites her nails as a nervous habit and she'll even make them bleed. I always thought that was so gross. Maybe that has something to do with why I hate biting nails as an adult.

No I don't do that. It's not that I won't but I can't. :D And to think I guess that is not a good manners. I have a friend who always do that in front of ours usually when we are hanging out and I found it as his mannerism anymore.

I have a roommate who has got used to bite her nail. She do have a nail cutter, but the fact is that she prefer to bite. Even when she does not have to have her nail cut she will also bite. She bites her nail when she feels anxious or just don't when she is free. when watch TV she will also do it. I am self do have the habit when I was in primary school, but when it comes to high grade I got rid of it.It just makes me think dirty. So in my opinion it depend on everyone. If you do remind yourself, hten you will be able to abandon the bad behavior.

I do not bite the nails. I always use nail cutter. I make sure that they are in proper place after each use. If I am not able to find one, I would use scissors to trim.

Hello, lolz... you do that ? really? are you missing your nail cutter?lolz... can't believe you biting your won nail. it is so disgusting, I can't do it. If I can't find it then I will wait when I find one later on. You know how dirty it is... if you know then you will not bite them at all. Many germs in there and if you can find it then a pocket knife will help also.

I never bite my nails. I know nails have a lot of germs and bacteria under them so that's why I refrain from doing so. I get the chills if I see people biting their nails. Why do they do it? i have seen hails under very powerful microscope and believe me, you don't want to know what sort of creatures are hiding them. Even our skin has tons of these creatures. Please don't bite your nails, fair ladies, it's very unhygenic.

NO WAY!.. Do you know that the nails is one of the most dirtest places on your body. They hold germs the longest. You can wash your hands often but unless you wash them for over 2 minutes the nails are not getting cleaned.Im not a nail bitter no matter what the situtation is. I always try to carry a pair of clippers with me. If not Im sure someone around me has a pair. I would go to the extent of asking someone I don't know if they have a pair to keep them from entering my mouth.

No, I don't bite my nails all the way either. I can easily locate my nail cutter when I need to cut my nails. I just don't think it would be hygenic for me to just chew on my nails because there could be dirt and stuff inside the nails.
