Who are your favourite TV Characters?

Why are they your favourites? Are they funny? Menacing? Can you relate to them?
I have a few favourites. The first one I thought of was Gene Hunt from the TV shows Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes. He is often a foul mouthed, violent police officer but he can also be absolutely hilarious for being so ridiculous. I have at times also felt sorry for him. I can;t really explain why he is so likeable. Perhaps I love to hate him? Or hate to love him? Haha!
Another would be the Doctor from Doctor Who in his forth, ninth and tenth incarnations (I haven't checked them all out though yet!). Each actor has brought their own take to the role but at heart the character is actually the same alien who travels around in a police box but especially in recent years, he's played as such a hilarious, moving and very loveable character. I'll miss David Tennant when he leaves the role this year but I will also look forward to Matt Smith's take on the role!
A couple of female characters I really like (although I've heard some people hate) are Rose Tyler from Doctor Who and Gwen Cooper from Torchwood/ Doctor Who. They're two very different characters but I find them incredibly well acted by Billie Piper and Eve Myles as well as them being very realistic despite the very unreal happenings that they experience.

There's lots of different characters that I like to watch. One of my favorites is Monk. I really enjoy that show just because of his quirks lol. I don't know if I can 'relate' to him or not. His character is just really well written, and the guy that plays Mr. Monk does a superb job of playing that character. I couldn't imagine anybody else playing that character as well as him. With all the phobias he has, and his penchance for solving crimes in an unusual way, I find it most entertaining! Sadly, the show is on it's final run this year. I also like Dr. House. There again, he has his quirks, yet he gets the job done. Both characters are considered genius's in their fields, yet it's their eccentric personalities that make them entertaining as well.

I really like characters that have a lot of depth and back story. Would you say that applies to your favourites?

I do think both of those characters have a lot of depth. I like the way that the writers give you clues along the way as to how they got to being the way they are now.

my favorite tv characters are the zack and cody :) i just love watching them together. they do so much comedy together that i just love it and i just can't forget to watch that serial again and again.
