Hi, it is time for me to hit the pillows.
So, which pillow do you love to sleep on?
Soft or Hard....or you sleep on both?
Long time ago in Ancient China, their pillows are
made from rectangular porcelain..they basically sleep
on hard porcelain pillow. Unbelieveable, isn't it?
Last June, I went to Holiday Inn, Melaka..the hotel room
have two pillows each on the bed with the tag on it labelled:
Soft Pillow or Hard Pillow..
What I did was I put the soft pillow partially on the hard one
and I slept soundly with sweet dreams :)
Do share your views here on what is your preference..soft or hard pillow?
Do you use a bolster ('dutch wife') when you sleep?
All the best and happy myLotting!

Some how, I always prefer the hard pillow. I never used to like the soft pillow, and when ever I used to get a soft pillow, I found it hard to sleep. In fact even when I stay in hotels, where they invariably keep a soft pillow, I ask for a hard pillow or else ask one more soft pillow and put it on top of the other and go to sleep.

Thanks for the information on Carnival Cruise lines. Even if a single journey takes an average of ten days, at least a million people travel in Carnival Cruises every year.

pillows.. something a must for my head! If I don't have one, I use my hand.. and sleep on my tummy instead!! Anyone take away my pillow is equivalent to taking away my sleep..
In order for me to have some sound sleep, the pillow height must be there.. usually a soft pillow on top of a hard one.. to make up the perfect height I want. In addition, if I am in those hotels that serve me super soft feathers pillow, I sure squeeze it and double layer it till I get the height I wanted..
My mum say I am a fussy bug, and even my friends.. but who cares, I need my pillows in order for me to have my sleep! would you rather take my fussy-ness of pillows or lack of sleep and get cranky? that's the question I asked them..

Hello friends, the height of the pillow is so important to me too, ! I could not fall asleep well in too thin pillow! I had a bad experience before. I wake up to be neck pain after sleep whole night in a too soft and too thin pillow.
For me, once I get attempt and fell in LOVE with that particular pillow, I will go for it , Forever, if possible. I hate the time to attempt to sleep in a new pillow.

Dear vingyan,
Totally agree with you, pillow is like part of us.
It is so important, like the right pair of shoes,
once it is the 'correct' one, it is so comfortable
to walk with. If the pillow is not 'right' then we
can't sleep well, and get cranky...neck pain
That's why some children like to bring along their
favourite pillow wherever they go, be it the hotel
or back at hometown - grandparents' place!
Thanks for sharing and happy myLotting :)

lack of sleep and get cranky!

I have a hard one on the bottom and then a softer one on the top. I cant sleep on a hard one as I just cant get comfortable and with a soft one there just isnt any support and I kind of sink down and I dont know I just dont like it. lol
So give me one that is right in the middle and I would be happy!

i like using soft pillows. i do not often use pillows under my head when lying down on my bed. i prefer not have a pillow. i just use pillow for something i can hug or just to feel comfy when i hold it in my arms. anwyays, i don't like having pillow under my head just because it hurts my back of my head and my neck. i prefer not to also so i can have a good body posture. cause i think that too much pillow under our head will in a way alter our proper body posture and will cause curvature in our neck when walking. anyways, so to be sure i will not have bad posture i tried not to use any pillow under my head. i got used to it already and so i am contented not having to have a pillow. but it is important that the bed is a little soft but not too soft that my head will push down the bed and that will in a way give kind of discomfort. sometimes when i don't feel comfortable without anything under my head i will just use a a blanket. just a blanket folded on one side and so it will not cause any discomfort in my head and will make my head feel comfortable being in a soft pad.

Hey Iriene,
*hugs* Long time yeah. .Wow! This is an interesting discussion. I had no idea about the hard pillow that the Chinese used. I was talking to my dad now and he was telling me that his grandma used wood pillow. I guess the concept is the same. It feels so strange to me, but then it was supposedly common in those times.
I like to sleep having 2 pillows under my head. I keep a slightly harder pillow below and a soft one at the top. That suites me well.

We do have a porcelain pillow, but not for sleeping. It has been a piece of art sitting in the cupboard. I am very careful in selecting the pillows. If too soft, I will feel dizzy in the morning, and if too hard, my neck cannot bear it. I take care the pillows are dry and covers frequently washed.

Hello iriene!
For me, I don't like pillow which is too soft or too hard. holiday Inn in Melaka has such a good AMENITIES? I never know it until I read this discussion. Guess what ? Just now I blog hopping and saw a blog post about a hotel in taiwan, sorry forgot about the name. It is a theme hotel room which is all and all the things in the room is Hello kitty! From the pillow to bed sheets, tooth paste shampoo all in hello kitty labels!
Few years back, I went to Korea and forgot which part of one city there, is so famous about the special pillow. We got the chance to try out the special pillow in the hotel. The pillow is so special because it is stuff with husks of the rice, if i am not mistaken.
We had buy some of the pillow back to our country. My hubs likes to sleep on that pillow but I don't like it, it is too hard for me.

I prefer soft pillow over the hard one..I never know take note that the hotel pillow have the label on pillow. I normally find all pillows on the bed are the same feel.
My current pillow for the head is not too soft and not too hard. I have another pillow to hug on when I'm sleep instead of bolster. The hugging pillow is way more soft then the head pillow cause I have been hugging it for a very very long time from when it is still hard till it get soften now. I think the cotton inside already mash and tie badly. But I still love the pillow very much.
Last time when my arm were terribly numb, I came across the advice from my sinseh, he said that actually not sleeping on a pillow is the best. True enough, I followed his advise (only put a towel at the neck area behind to support the gap of the head and neck), without sleeping on the pillow my problem got corrected.
