Erap for President again?

There were rumors that former president Joseph Erap Estrada is planning to run for president again in 2010. Apparently, he was ousted through to People Power 2 and we all know it.
However, the late president Cory Aquino even apologized to him when she somehow helped the ignition of the people to oust him. History tells us that Erap has been a good mayor of San Juan for a long time, one of only the 2 senators of his time to oppose the stay of US Military bases, and the only vice president and president elect who had a landslide victory.
With his records, do you think he will run again and win again? Do you think he was a good president and will be a better president than GMA?
No hurting words please.

but he thinks he is. he still believes that the poor will choose him still instead..he's just dreaming of the past because he wasn't able to finish his presidency when he was still in the office.

People are much wiser now? I don't think so. All those people who voted for Erap are still the same people who are going to vote for him when he runs for president and those people haven't got any wiser at all. They don't even care about Erap's cases, they don't even consider what happened. Erap is still likely to win.

Hi there!
Oh no! not ever again! why not give chance to some other younger ones and should I say more qualified candidates. The fact that he has been ousted by people power is a sign of distrust in his willpower to address the issues of the country. Why waste his time and resources to run for presidency again? People don't forget that still he is facing his plunder case he must then concentrate into it and prove himself innocent of the crime....

Erap should realize that he was released from prison because of "conditional" pardon from the President i.e., he should not run for any public post. He signed that conditional pardon, so I don't think it is legal for him to run in the national elections next year.
By the way, he is one of the "12" senators (not 2) who opposed the extension of the Philippines-US military base agreement.
Was Erap a good president? I cannot assess his presidency because he did not complete his term of office. However, I do believe that he is instrumental for the improvement of the agricultural sector.

I don't think it would be a question of whether he is a good president or a better president than the incumbent. I think what needs to be addressed first is whether or not he is still qualified to run as a presidential candidate because of the following circumstances:
1. He was convicted of plunder, right? Can a convicted felon run again for public office, more so if it is the presidency?
2. He was pardoned. But isn't one of the conditions of his pardon was that he could not run again for the presidency?
Some say that the constitution should be amended first so that he can run for presidency. But then, who wants a constitutional change?
I am not for or against him, this is just my opinion.
Good day, fatherblogger.

He is still eligible to run for president, why? Because he has not yet finished his term as president, that's why. Only those who had their full term cannot run for president, his case is different, though he had some charges the fact remains that he has not completed his term.

I think it is best that he gives it to younger candidates. He may have served as a good mayor before, but being a President, I am not sure. He was involved before in Velarde accounts. I hope that the people will not forget that.

I think what we need right now is a new president and erap already became president and this time around i think there are more choices and we are now intelligent voters. We need a much more youthful president to embody energy and relentless will to make philippines a better nation and a president that will make the poor his primary agenda and prefer someone who has humble beginnings and I will not vote someone who is from a rich family tree because they are all the same traditional politicians.

I am not angry on Erap but let me be straight on this. I don't want him to be a president again.I hope there is a new person to be our president. Although he did not finish his term adn we all know when he wish to run from presidency there are still many people who will support him, our country is needing a new person to sit as president. This president should have a credibility and be not selfish. Honestly until now I haven't choose who will choose to be the next president. Its hard to choose because as I look at them , they are all the same. They are all users.

He has strong grassroots supporters and there is likelihood that he is able to warm the presidential chair once more. He may have failed once but that doesn't mean he is a weak leader. A charismatic leader needs strong advisers to help him run a country. He has a caring nature and he sees everyone as part of one family. That attitude makes everyone accept Erap with an open heart.

I don't think we can discuss this without pointing out the reality. And no matter how much we coat things, truth hurts.
Point One. Statistics show that things worsen during the Estrada administration.
Point Two. As president, Estrada never showed a good work ethics. Going to office late in the afternoon and stayed long just to meet his midnight cabinets.
Point Three. He promised that he will not use his office to give favor to his relatives. But, history showed how his office was used for personal purposes.
Now, do I have to dig more old news to prove how crap was the Estrada administration?
Oh, there's no need to compare whether Erap is better or worse than GMA. What's the point? They are not the type of president the Filipino people deserve.

Oh, not again! GMA was a bad choice, but ERAP was no better. Aside from being a plunderer, he does not have the knowledge to run a country. When we are sick, we seek a doctor's help. Why? Because we know that doctors have the right knowledge to cure us. But why is it than when choosing our country's leaders being a Filipino and of legal age are enough? Isn't the position of president the highest one in the country? So why shouldn't there be qualifications for this position to gauge the competence of a candidate? I know that being kind and having a heart for the mass are important, but they are not the only important things. When looking for someone to cure our illness, we do not go to someone who is just kind. We go to someone who is a good doctor and can cure our illness. In other words, we look for someone who is competent. We should have the same attitude when choosing our leader. This is not a popularity contest people! Let us vote wisely.

Oh no, not again. He's too old for the position. Let others be the next. There are other more credible people out there, like Escudero and Legarda.. But I think to be eligible for president candidacy, a one must be at least 45y/o. Escudero must wait for a lot of years yet..

Does he ever learn? or simply he wasn't aware that most people might not vote for him this time.he already had a lot of political experience in his life that he doesn't need to do more at his age. look at Former President Cory Aquino, even though She's no longer running for office but still active out side her previous role. Can he be just that way instead? let the younger Presidentiables do their job if they win the election.
I won't vote for him that's for sure.

Hey fatherblogger!
My only say about this is that it sounds really pathetic if ever Erap runs & wins! We all know what he did during his short term. If he really wants to be the great leader of our country, he shouldn't have done what he did in his term. He should have just play his role nicely and shouldn't have done such things he did. But I guess we could always pay for our mistakes and i guess he had paid for his already. But still, i would stand to what i say. I wouldn't want him to be the leader of our country again. But that's just me.
Happy lotting!

I think he will not run for the Presidential Election even if he will announce it. That is just one the strategy their camp is doing. He is just sensationalizing the name Estrada and then the person who will run for the position is Jinggoy. That is a possibility.

Uhhh...Erap is considering running for presidency again? He is very popular because of his "image" of being pro-poor. But I have no faith in him. Come elections next year, I guess I will have to not exercise my right to vote again if the choices for presidency is Erap, Villar, Mar (Kuya Mar!), Eddie Villanueva or Ed Panlilio. Just looking at the shortlist makes me want to change my nationality.

We have tried him and have seen how he performed and now again, would we want to suffer. Its our choice and for me its better we give other candidtaes a chance, there are a lot more younger and more capable candidates we can choose from and I can say is that we should vote wisely.

I don't think I will vote for him if ever he runs for the presidency. Im sure there will be better candidate in the 2010 election. If ever the choice will come down to gma or erap... I think I'll go for erap.

It's not a rumor, it is confirmed that he will run for president come 2010. Will he win? There is a chance! Remember how many people live him? Majority of those are people living near or below proverty line and let's face it, people in that area out number the middle and upper class voters. I have nothing agaist Erap running for president, I'm just worried that if he wins again, he will be used again for more scandalous "transactions" and possibly more "Jose Velarde" accounts.

Rumors or fact, in my opinion i don't want erap to run again for the presidency this coming 2010 election because i think history will repeat itself again, as if Gloria is not enough of a problem.
