My gut tells me Lakers repeat or Celtics win if Kevin Garnett can stay healthy.
I don't think Magic will be as good this season, Spurs are just too old and the Cavs are a three ring circus filled with overconfidence.
I believe the Pistons have an outside chance at the title this year with the additions of Charlie Villanueva and Ben Gordon, look for Rodney Stuckey to emerge as a star this season.

Yeah with all their problems last year they still made the playoffs, and Stuckey's growth was stunted by the Iverson debacle.
Charlie Villanueva and Ben Gordon are big time acquisitions, and bringing back Ben Wallace to mentor all the young guys defensively is a good move. Alot has changed since last season, the playoff picture this year will be different.

i think some teams can pull a surprise on the lakers and other contenders. i think that western conference teams are still very strong and will produce this coming season's champions. lakers is of course a strong contender with kobe, gasol and now artest in the line-up. i would like to see the dallas mavericks also making it deep into the playoff. the mavs added marion and basically kept the core line-up. the mavs can pull a surprise this season.

Umm I can't believe some people here are making a prediction already! Y'all know Gasol is injured right? If the Lakers don't have Gasol they don't win the 2009 title.
Anyways back to the question. I think it is to hard to predict as of right now. Not all of the offseason moves are complete yet and until preseason starts we do not know how all of the offseason moves will work out. A lot of them could backfire and a lot of the moves that were probably considered not 'great' for a team could work out perfectly so it all depends.
I am waiting until preseason or the first few months of the season to make my prediction. Right now, like I said, it's all up in the air between a LOT of teams. Remember, a lot of teams got better this year!
