I am just curious how safe the school or uni libraries are in different places in the world. I ever left my bags and stuff on one of the tables in the library, but of course I took away my wallet and mobile phones, and I have never got stolen. Touchwood. However, other people have. How about your library? Is it really a safe place? have you ever got stolen in the library?

I think the library at my college is very safe. I mean I wouldn't leave my bag or wallet out in the open or anything, I would be careful with that stuff everywhere, but if I left the table to get another book, I would leave my phone and purse there because I trusted the people I went to school with.

ylrevhan hi as a former page in a library for many years
'the pages and librarians do not have time to watch over'the stuff that people leave on the tables .to always be safe
a patron must take her or his valuables with them as we'
are working shelving books and we cannot tell who belongs to'what belongings in a big library. so always take your stuff with you
as its better to be safe than sorry. Unlike school libraries where there may be lockers, most city libraries do not have this facility. so take your stuff with you as there are always some
people who will steal. Yes people have had purses stolen from our library. signs are posted telling you not to leave valuables on the tables unattended.

I think my library is relatively safe but it's never a bad idea to take precautions. When I live the table, I always take my wallet from my bag and lock my laptop with a laptop lock.
