I went and picked him up this afternoon after work and he wouldn't talk to me on the way home at all. When I finally put him in his crate, he started crying to come out. I knew he wasn't going to like being cooped up like this but there is no choice in the matter. He's not in any pain but he's having a hard time getting used to walking around with the splint on. It looks like he tryed chewing on it after he came out of his sleep. The pic shows a very unhappy Tigger in his big cage.

Wow that really does look like an humongous cage and you do have it set up great. I was just thinking about you and your "baby" and wondered how he was doing. while unhappy being caged up though I bet Tigger's glad to be home with his mommy

lol I told you it was a huge cage. Thank goodness someone threw it out and we happened upon it. He's having problems using the litterbox. His leg keeps getting stuck on the lip of the box and can't seem to get postioned right to pee or poop. He's been loudly complaining so I wonder if it's because of that. Shhhhhhhhhhh.........he's sleeping on his blanket.

(pyewacket whispers)---okay I'll be quiet so as not to wake him up. How are the others reacting to him or are they going nah, nah, nah, nah, nah you have to be stuck in there

Simba came in once to see him and did his usual hiss then left. Bear could care less. Domingo gave him a good cleaning before I could shut the door, though. Soon as I walked into the kitchen, he started up with his wailing. Came in here and he was hiding in his blanket. It's folded into 4ths and he pulled back one edge to burrow inside. He would not stop purring and rubbing and kissing while I was refilling his water dish and picking up the scattered litter.

Awww, poor kitty. I know you will take care of him and do the best you can to make him comfy. It's so hard when pets are cooped up and they don't like it. He's he cute cat.

And I sure understand. Have a good day and try not to worry about him. Probably easier said than done.

Thanks, Carol. Yeah, it's really hard and they just don't understand it's for their own well-being. I just let him out to saturate the carpet in his cage with febreeze. This room stinks from all the pee in the carpet, despite all the cleaning I did to it. He's in his cubby hole cleaning himself now with contented mews. Hate to put him back when I leave but have to.

Tigger is doing much better, gabs. He only catterwales when he's locked into the cage. Once I let him loose in his room, he just curls up in a corner and goes to sleep or sits and talks to me while batting a piece of paper with his paw. He thanks you and Gissi for all the hugs and gives you both kitty kisses back. Thanks also for the hugs, gabs. Big hugs back to you!

People are not happy with casts, I can not imagine any animal to be happy. Poor little boy, not only moving is limited, but also cage....he may not understand why he is suddenly caged.... I feel so sorry for him, but I guess there is no other choice....

Thanks, pola. I feel for him as well but has to be if there is a chance his leg will heal. He's content now in his cubby hole outside his cage, cleaning himself, but will have to put him back when I leave.

Poor baby, but he's home. He'll figure it out sooner or later

He knew he was home cause the minute I took him out of the car, he put his paw out for me to hold and was giving out tiny mews. We know he'll be just fine but he sounds like he's being tortured.

I meant that he'd figure out that you are doing it in his best interest, forgive you.. that'll take longer

I hope you don't mind a suggestion, but instead of using a usual litter box, try either a 13 x 9 pan or a baking sheet with the lip all the way around. At least until the poor baby gets used to having the splint on. Also you might want to put a drop cloth or a garbage sack covered with newspaper across the bottom of the cage...it'll help protect your carpet in case of an accident on Tigger's part. Please give the poor baby 9 hugs from my house hold (4 cats and 4 dogs...the dogs all are cat lovers!)

Believe me, Loverbear, that's the first thing I thought of but the only pan I have is a really good non-stick one that I paid a pretty penny for. I do, however, have a pyrex baking dish which is pretty heavy. Think maybe I'll use that instead. Least it won't get damaged by his digging. As for a drop cloth, this carpet is already totally ruined and are going to rip it out soon as we can afford to buy linoleum to put down instead. There was a pan that came with that crate but we didn't take it cause the intended use of it was for the rabbit to spend some time in outside. Now I'm wishing we did take it. I just gave him your hugs and he says "mew meow".
