Do you cut your own hair or go to a barber/hairdresser?

I have been cutting my own hair for about 2 or 3 years and it looks just about as good as when I went to a barber. I started this more because it was a nusiance to go out get a hair cut than because of the cost, although it does save a lot of money. I have wavy to curly hair(I'm a guy by the way) which makes it harder to cut but which also hides most small mistakes. Do you cut your own hair?

I am not patient enough to trim my hair
I'd rather cut 3 inces or more every time
I've done it twice this year
so the next cut will be around christmas

I don't really cut it all at once like going to a barber. I trim a little here and a little there as it grabs my attention for being too long. Then occasionaly I will trim the back of my neck with an electric razor that I have from when I had a beard a long time ago.

it's not hard for you because you are guy, but for us girls it's very hard to cut bu ourselves only.. we need to be in a salon so they can decide what style is good for us.. but maybe if i will put bangs i can do it by my own, our hair is our crowning glory so we need to make them nice and glowy...

I have difficulty with the back sometimes, mostly because I don't have a mirror. So I kind of pull at the hair and feel it and guess sometimes. But now that I've been cutting my own hair for several years, I've gotten very good at it.
I think for women it is even better to learn to cut your own hair, because it costs a fortune to go to a salon. And I don't want those women deciding my style for me, which they love to do! I can pick out my own style.

Yes and no as far as it being easier for a guy. I can't speak for other guys but I have a great deal of difficulty with the back and top of my head when it comes to cutting there and anything else there. I have noticed that most women do not have this problem and I think it is because they started fairly young and learned how to do things with their hair that guys just don't learn.

I have been cutting my own hair since high school. Despite that I am just about the cheapest person on earth generally, I didn't start this due to money. I started cutting my own hair for two reasons. The first one is that I have a terrible time trying to describe what I want to the hairdresser, and never really get what I want. But since I can cut it how I want it, it's easier for me to just do that. The second reason, now that I don't like leaving my hair super long, is that my hair grows quickly. I have to at least trim my hair once a month to keep a cute short style. That would cost $50 to $75 in this area, per month! If I could afford that, I could afford a gym membership.
I have wavy hair, which I find other people do not know how to cut because they think I can just straighten it every morning. But I've gotten used to where the waves are and cutting so that they look nice or are gone. When other people used to cut my hair, I usually ended up having to fix it because they couldn't cut it straight across due to all the waves.

Yeah, going out to get a haircut takes a lot of time.
Apparently I did pretty good on the haircut I did last night... my coworkers don't even believe me that I cut it myself! They keep asking where I went because they want to go there. But I am not brave enough to cut other people's hair yet. Unless it's just my family, since they don't really care too much about their hair.

Usually I go to a hairdresser to cut off my hair. There was once in my life which was a few years ago when I cut off my own hair. It looks good on me and most of my friends said the same thing, they can't believe that I cut off my own hair. I used two mirrors (one at my face and the other one at my back) and scissors. While my friend's sister also tried to cut her hair using five mirrors but ended up in regret. She went to a hairdresser after that to have her hair fixed. Its good that you can cut your own hair as others don't have that kind of talent.

I did it myself this year
my hair is long and straight
a bit wavy because I tie it up a lot
I just cut the right and left and hubby will cut the back
I even cut my hubby's hair lol
just need a good haircutting scissors, water spray and shaving stuffs
I cut my own bangs which is a small mistake lol
but it will grow again anyway and I will mess up with it again haha

Wow, you cut your own hair? I am impressed. I don't think I could cut my own hair, I would be too worried about messing it up. I have very long, curly hair. I prefer to get it done at the salon. The place I go too isn't too expensive so I don't mind paying. I figure they go to school for cutting hair and are trained to do it so I trust them much more than my amateur hands.

i never cut hair on my own. I dont think i am capable of cutting hair in proper style and would end up giving myself an odd look if i try to give myself a haircut.

Hi there!
I prefer to go to Barber rather than trying cutting my hair myself. I know I cannot do it neatly, as a Barber would do with all the modern and latest gadzets available with him.

hi stealthy hatley here. my son also cuts his own hair
and does a real good job. I go to a beauty salon to have'
my hair cut as for cutting it myself I cannot raise my'left'
arm to help cut my hair as i have a shoulder joint
replacement that left my left arm virtually useless as I'
can only left it about ten inches up. I am a woman by'the
way but i am sure you figured that out.

I usually go to the hairdresser but I have been known to snip a little bit here and there. I am very impatient, and I when I finally decide I need a trim, I can't always get in as quickly as I would like. I try hard not to cut my own hair because the hairdresser always knows and asks me about it, lol.

Before i moved to another state i use to go to the barber and they'd cut my hair very nice, but now i always cut my own hair, it saves me money and plus i don't have to wait in line any more, and i cut my own hair and people say i look good. But i don't think i do, although its neat and clean cut.

Hello!
You know what it is a pain in the bum going out and about to just get a haircut and I have had them mess up as well . Even bigger pain if you are just going in for a trim and they charge you so much , too much! My mom when I was little would trim my bangs and they looked fine and sometimes my gram would trim he hair . For the most part I keep my hair long and only go twice a year so it is not so bad. I am actually do for a cut after this summer is done to get rid of all the sun damage and all.

Hi stealthy! I'm a woman and I have very curly hair which
also is very difficult to cut and I hate to go out to get
my hair cut too! I wish you lived near me so you could cut
my hair too! I trim my own hair too! I started doing it again
about a year ago! I had decided to let my layers grow in and
so I started to trim it up myself! I can't believe that you
are a guy and you are feeling the exact same way that I feel!
That is so cool! But, now that it has grown in and alot longer
I just don't know what to do with it and it is getting alot
more difficult to cut, and I still cut the top in layers a bit
too!
