There are some people that always think that the chopstick that came along with your chinese food delivery might be needed in the future. So he/she keep it in the drawer and collected until hundreds of them. this 'chopstick' maybe something else like tomato ketchup paste, chili paste, or maybe the washable plastic glass from the fast food restaurant, or a washable polystyrene storage from the take away.
My mum used to collect all this stuff, and i felt like we can open a small restaurant, provided by these chopstick, glass, tomato ketchup and the polystyrene storage. Every time my mum want to keep all this stuff, she will say 'we might going to need these in the future', and i will tell her we had enough already. lol..
Do you have this habit to collect the stuff that you 'might' need in the future? I do keep one or two of them, like chopstick, i know i might need it, but not bunch of chopstick. I do wash back one disposable plastic glass and used it to keep my stationary like pencil and pen. what do you think? and have a nice day..

I'm the opposite for the most part. I like to get rid of stuff. I guess its because my mom likes to hold on to things forever. Helping her move from NY to Massachuettes she had magazines dating back to the seventy meanwhile this was now 2001. We took out so much garbage from that place that we needed to dumpsters. This is why I get rid of stuff. I don't like clutter at all. I like everything in its place. As for chopsticks I can't eat with them so I would never be holding on to them.

Sigh.. to pay the amount is not the worst thing. That airport have the title 'International', but there is no a single ATM machine install! That is one of my most embarrassed moment where i had to borrow money from people at that airport. Luckily there were a lot of student at that airport, and I know some of them. To make the problem worst, one side of my big box was torn off. A lot of thing happened that, and the most important lesson is to get rid of thing.

Hi lelin1123, thanks for sharing here. i'm just like you, before this i don't really bother with all this collection. It happened years ago, i was study in other town, and it was end of the semester, my mum want me to bring back all my paper and books and stuff, which I know I don't need it in the future. My mum said just bring it back and got sentimental value. At last at the airport, this 'sentimental value' cost me $170 for overweight luggage.
Since that day, i get rid of stuff. =)

I'am too by rocks and aircraft models. Your right when you said that everyone have their own perspectives. Collecting stuffs for practical reasons is always a positive trait, however, this should observed with caution, especially if your doing it above of whats considered normal. For example, a one-or-two pairs of chopsticks is acceptable, but, a dozen is a total overkill unless you kept for something else (to be used in a project, etc...)
Remember, we could manipulate what we see of ourselves but not from others....

Hi friend, thanks for sharing here. It is a good hobby if you collect the stuff and really can make use of it. We can recycle it and save the environment :). My house do have a lot of stuffs like you said, from a small caps of bottle, bottles, old newspaper, bla bla bla.. It just too much for our house, and don't know when we can really make good use of this stuffs. I'm not sure where is the recycle at my place, else I think I'll earn some money from all this collection. lol

I dont collect stuff like that...well, Walmart bags. They are excellent trash baggies for the car or those little trash cans. I do collect waterglobes, but those are just because I love music and they are so beautiful to have as decorations. I have about 30...some might say thats not many, but i am only 21 and have been collecting since I was 16.

@ your mom. my mom used to be like that too. but now she dont do it anymore.
and i have gotten that habit before i had a faily of my own. of course like your mom i think that we may have use of it in the future. even plastic spoons and forks, i keep them. there were times that we were able to use them during parties here, and it did saved me from buying those plastic spoon and forks. .
as for the ketchup, yes i take them home too. as for the chopsticks, i dont, since i always buy them at the grocery by packs.

Hi jayrene, thanks for sharing. Yea, good for you, at least you can use up all the collected spoons and forks in a party. It is very rare for us to throw a party here, most of the time just a dinner, or if it is a party, we used the real spoon and forks.

I am not much of a collector of things like you mentioned, though I do collect bus tickets and receipts, but mostly because I don't throw them away (though on the off chance the bus companies let me re-use old tickets I shall be sorted lol).
The main things I tend to collect are money (you always need that), manga (in case I get ill and need something to read), and paper. I have a nasty habit of picking up pens and food too so have a small collection of those which could be useful should a disaster cause a lack of pens, or junk food lol!
All the best and happy mylotting,
Dranz

Yea, the collection of stuff can become handy when needed. I still remember my mum helping me out in my primary school handcraft project. We use the side of the boxes to make a bag. It was fun back then.

I don't have a collection, per say but lately I have realized that I have somewhat of a collection. When I go places, I like to buy a postcard and a shot glass for myself to put in my house that has the name of the place I went to. I have quite a few of those. I also love to read but I HAVE to buy the book for myself and own it after I read it. Whenever I read a book from the library or a friend, I buy it for myself and file it away on my book shelf.

The way you define it, I am a collector too. I collect chili paste and keep them in my car. I always traveling here and there, that chili pastes might come handy when I bought food to eat(I always disagree with the taste, I need to add something to it to make it tastier) I also love to collect small shampoo and conditioner bottles from hotel. I think they're cute and I have a huge collection of them.

My mum used to collect the small shampoo, comb, toothpaste and conditioner from the hotels. These is the most useful collection from her. It's very convenient if i have to go camping, or other town, no need purposely buy a small one =)

Hi janebeth, thanks for posting here. I won't call anyone cheap for that, as everyone has their own perspective. My mum used to collect empty bottle lotion too, and we never go for refill, I don't know how she is going to use her collection in the future. lol..
Ya I forgot to mention, I do collect paper bag, i think it looks nicer to use 'branded' paper bag, rather than disposable plastic bag to carry around. Haha.. in some way, I am cheap too.. Cheers =)

I have to admit that I am a collector however the only thing I enjoy collecting is anything involving Unicorns. I even finally got my first tatoo at the age of 41 and imagine that........it is a unicorn. I guess my main reason for collecting unicorns is because of their mystical & magical thoughts. They make me smile, feel good and realize that there is magic out there if only we believe.

Well, in my school days, I used to collect postage stamps of various countries. Even today, I collect whenever I come across new stamps. I use to also collect olden days coins. I am talking about coins when the Kings and various other rulers used to rule our country many centuries ago. I am talking about my country "India"

Hi friend, you did collect frog? Fortunately none of my friend have the same collection as you. A big frog jumped across me when I went for jungle tracking, i was stumped, my soul jumping out from my body.
