Yesterday I went on a bus journey to Bristol to go shopping. I sat next to an old man that got chatting to me. We said that it was wet and rainy for August. He said our home country would always have bad weather every summer from now on. I told him whatever the weather I still have an enjoyable time. He said I wouldn't be happy from 2013 to 2020 when all kinds of bad things would happen. I like to stay on the positive side with my thinking. How about you?

Hello Maximax,
Absolutely! we all have to stay positive no matter what. Walking around being all negative will not help anything but just bring more negative around. I also believe that whatever happens, happens for a reason. Even if we don't see what that reason is at that moment.
People (like the older man you were chatting with) are walking around all unhappy about life or things that they have to face in life and if they see a happy young person up beat they like to bring you down with them. I know a few people like that. That's when I try my best to bring them up with me instead of them bringing me down with them...LOL...you know what I mean...
Happy MyLotting!

And most definitely too! It is easy to think life is against us, but it means we need to change our attitude...

It took me over 10 years to learn how to stay on the positive side of thinking, and every now and then i fall into the trap of negative thinking and i think about the bad things that happend to me, and all the lies they told, horrible times in my life. But now, i'm kind of happy and i stay on the positive side of thinking.

Hi Maximax,
There are numerous occasions in our lives when we feel that all the bad things are happening to us . We forget or think less about good things .
We begin viewing things as "Half-Empty" glass ,rather than "Half-Full" one .
However,we should not loose track of positives in our lives and also think about how to find ways to deal with and manage stress in a much more positive way .
Have a great time .
Regards

Old people try to judge the world with their previous experiences adding their presumptions. We shall not give a damn to them and face the world as it comes. We need not be pessimistic about the future which will make our lives dull. So,your decision to remain positive is right.Keep it up.Cheers!

I try to keep thinking positive but sometimes it's hard for me and I realize it's hard for others as well. Thinking positive leads to trust, acceptance and forgiveness and these are all good qualities. It's just difficult to get over the bad ones of negativity, jealousy, revenge, and all in all just negative thinking, especially with the time we are living in right now.

Hello maximax
I know what you mean, my brother is really into this what will happen thing, you need to prepare yourself when he start talking like this I am like look I don't want to worry about what may or may not happen all I care about is what is happening now,not to mention the thought of all that is so doggone depressing, its like why would you focus on things like this all the time, my brother does this so much its scary, I listen to him cause I love him but after a while I am like look sweety, enough is enough he laughs at me and say you will wish you listened, who is to say what is right or wrong we have to concentrate on what works for us, at this point in my life that does not work for me at all

What a horrible man! I believe in being optimistic and just be on the positive side o f things. Whatever has to happen would happen and there is no point meeeting trouble half way and saying that we would be unhappy in 10, 12, and 20.Is he some GOd or something? It is not for us to keep thinking what would be in 13 and 20.Everything would be fine. Aawareness of the environment degradation or water scarcity is a diffrent thing becaseu this will help us take safety measures.

Hello maximax. You are right that staying on the positive side of thinking makes us feel good. I won't be happy if I keep some negative thinking on my mind. Out of this reason, I am always trying to be positive towards people and things. This way I feel very content with my life and work.

Ya, staying positive is the best way of beating the blues out of your surroundings. But on a more philosophical note, don't you think that its all about knowing in your hearts of heart that i am still going to find that cosy bed waiting to pamper me in a nice sleep till the next day.
Braving the odds on a hot afternoon knowing that you would still have the cool comfort of your soft linens at home is all together a different thing dear friend. Ask those people who have to live hostile storms day in and out; and you would know why their postive attitude slowly vanishes from that hard window of reality.
Although, i still believe that one should always look at things positively. It really adds a postive perspective to our lives.

I am a realist. I expect the worst and hope for the best - that way you can't be disappointed! That may sound gloomy, but it isn't. It just means that you make the most of every day rather than waiting for a better one.

That sounds like the original grumpy old man! I always try to find something positive in a situation. Yes, the weather's bad, so we can't spend much time outdoors, but I can catch up on reading and writing. I live in Spain now, and I come to England in the summer. Over there, they've had an unusually hot summer after the worst winter in 40 years, so I wouldn't have been out much there anyway, as it would be too hot.
I was diagnosed with swine flu yesterday, which knocked me back a bit. I couldn't see a bright side, feeling so ill, and it could interfere with our plans to return to Spain. But this morning I realised that at least I've had it now, so I won't have to worry about getting it in the winter, when it would probably be much worse for me, as I have breathing difficulties. Not much of a plus side, but at least I've found it!

Spain has a lovely climate so if I was you I would stay there year round. My part of England is having a cool summer this year.
I am so sorry to hear that you have caught swine flu. I wish you a speedy recovery. Yes, getting it in winter would be even worse. As my mum says "every cloud has a silver lining".

Yes, continue to think positively.i don't think even astrologers can't predict the period when we can be happy or unhappy. If this was so we would all be dependent on them.As regards bad weather is concerned it is being predicted that global warming could effect some countries and he could have probably read a report on it.Be positive and continue to be happy irrespective of what the killjoy said.

My driving instructor thought global warming would have made our home country hotter. He is not impressed with the cool weather but he dresses in a t-shirt and shorts like it is hot. I am still happy and don't take much notice of grumpy old men like that one on the bus.

I agree that positive thinking forth towards obtaining your goal will help achieve that goals. Not only positive thinking attract positive experience,it also serves to keep you focused on your dreams by generating the thinking. When you are thinking positive about the situation or a person only when you are near to that situation that you are looking for and you will get it.The more positive you are the more quicker you will receive what you want.Do you agree?

Well it could have been worst, if you see the glass as half full he could have said that the world is coming to an end in 2012 as some predict! But no he seems to think that the world will be still in existence up to 2020 so that in itself is good news! I am a negative person myself I have to admit and I see the glass as half empty. Mind you I tend to steer clear of people who want to talk to me. Glad he didn't spoil your day. You always get them my friend! Hope you enjoyed your shopping in Bristol.

People in weak position are likely to overweigh the problems. They need more light and warmth to keep on their difficult life. From time to time, some senior people resort to complaints, or seemingly wise predictions, to help get balanced. Actually it does not lead to positive results for sure.
In any community, there are influential figures, who play the leading role of organizing, encouaging, mentoring, etc. Hope we can be closer to being those positive persons, so that our enthusiasm is shared by those who need support.

Dear Maxine,
I try to see the positive side of life, but when one is older it doesn´t seem easy some days. So maybe that man was passing through a depresive stage which is more usual in old people.
Besides that, I think you are an extremelly positive minded person. That is not usual either. So you just met the wrong person to talk to.
A big hug!
