There is some interesting news regarding global warming. It seems that Switzerland has expanded border, because of melting glaciers in the High Alps.
The Swiss government has approved shifting border 164 yds into Italian territory in some areas. The watershed which determined the border in 1942 has moved because of melting glaciers and snow fields so Switzerland has become a little bit larger, at Italys expense. The change has also been approved in Rome. No plans to change atlas at this time. The great Aletsch glacier is melting at temps that are 0.7 degrees celsius 1.3 farnenheit warmer than in the 19th century and the people there have been warned that a new danger threatens. For centuries, the people of southern Switzerland offered a sacred vow to live upstanding lives to God to protect them from the advancing ice mass of the glacier. Today, they are asking the Pope for permission to reverse their solem prayer. Glacer is ice, ice is water and water is life, without it the springs will dry up and the brooks evaporate. Alps and pastures will vanish and towns will die out. The melting glacier risks worsening floods in the valley (Valais region) and eventually loss of water supply. The glacier will continue to shrink and the warming of the last few decades hasn't even taken effect yet. This brings me to the saddest thing of all, to me, and that is the threat of extinction of the beautiful polar bear. Their artic habitat is melting away with the rising temps. The artic seals which the polar bear hunts for food and the sea ice that polar bears need to hunt them are becoming increasingly scarce. The U.S. geological survey has predicted that loss of summer sea ice could lead to the demise of 2/3 of the worlds polar bears by mid century including all of Alaskas polar bears. We all need to write to Secretary Selazar to ask him to reconsider reversing the Bush administrations policy of limiting the protection of polar bears from the impacts of global warming. There is a link that I would be happy to share with anyone who would like to help by signing a petition to be sent to him regarding this crisis. These gorgeous creatures need our help and I ask you to do your part to save them. You can PM me if interested. I thank you, the bears thank you and so do their babies who will also starve as mothers become to weak to hunt and to teach them to hunt.

i am very sad about about the warming of the earth due to humans.
population as well pollution is increasing day by day and so is the temperature of the earth which is leading to the melting of glaciers.

Iam surprised you are the only one that answered,,,gusee there isn't much interest in this serious issue..I guess Iam on the wrong site to get this type of convrrsation going. Thanks for your post howecver. If you are interested in the petition about saving the polar bears I'll be hsppy to share it with you along with some other pertinent facts about the ever growing problem These bears need ur help and I think a lot of the problem is that folks say, "What difference will my vote make?" Well if everyone thought that way, nothing would get done. Please pass this important message along to friends,,it takes just seconds to sign the petition Thanks again

The earth is heading into it's newest tropical period so the melting is inevitable. There's not much we can do about it. The bear population will have to decrease & adapt along with the other creatures of the world. Eventually this period will pass & we'll head into another ice age & the bears will prosper greatly. That's just the cycle of the earth. No amount of legislation is going to do much of anything.
