I think the first memory I have of music would be when I was about 3 or so and my grandmother would hold my hands and we would dance around in her living room. I remember it so well! She would sing and we would dance! We used to sing a song she wrote called, "I went down to the well" It went on to say that we went to the well and got a bucket of joy!It was a real upbeat song. It was great fun to sing and dance with my grandmother!
What is your first memory of music being a part of your life?

When I was a child I spent a lot of time with my grandmother and my grandmother's friend. My grandmother's friend loved music, and he used to make cassette tapes for me. I loved those tapes and I listened to them over and over. I was only a small child when I received my first tape recorder. My parents were against it, because they didn't think that I was old enough to use it, but my grandmother's friend insisted on giving it to me, and he taught me how to use it. There are many different sogns that I remember from that period of my life. "The sun has got two teeth" is one of the titles that comes to mind and it was a collection of songs that were supposed to teach children to brush their teeth

My first memory of music for me was my mom singing to songs that were either on the radio or turntable. She would be singing songs that Frank Sinatra, Bing Cosby, Andy Williams, Nat King Cole and Perry Como were singing. Today I know most of the words to these old songs that were great then and can live on today. I love music so much I can't imagine what it would be like not having music in our lives. How boring would it be?

My first memory of music is in kindergarten when I would ride my mother's car and hear the radio music on the radio. It was different songs every time so I didn't get to learn them well enough to sing it. My first experience with singing is my fifth grade graduation where we hade to sing "I believe I can fly" Now I just love singing and listening to music. Happy mylotting

My first memory of music was when I was about 4 years old. My family and I were up at the cottage, and a song was playing on the radio. It was called: "The Wayward Wind". For some reason, I fell in love with that song, although I can't recall the lady's name who sang it. To this day, I can still remember her beautiful voice and the lyrics. I'll be 58 come this November.

Music is my life. Hard to pinpoint my first memory of it. I think it would have to be when I was just a toddler and my mom would sing me a Greek song while clapping my hands together. She did the same with all my other siblings.
I also remember having a toy xylophone when I was young, and would play a lot of the songs from Disney movies and old Mario games by ear with it. That's probably my clearest oldest memory of music. Hahah, still at it today.

Awesome memories! Thanks for sharing. I think my mom sang some to me when I was little too. She mostly sang silly songs. But I grew up with music in my house all the time as she plays the piano and my daddy plays basically everything with strings!
