Well we have macafee but I can't say hey, that's the best. I can tell you every computer tech I've talked to says don't do norton, but I have no idea why

I prefer Quick Heal Anti Virus Total Security 2009. Previously I used to use AVG 8 and then switched over to Bitdefender 2009 but both of them had the same problem. They used to take so much time scanning and used to slow down the performance of the PC/laptop.
Quick Heal on the other hand is light, very tough on viruses and easy to use. Its biggest plus point is the BOOT TIME SCANNER option, in which it scans for viruses even before the explorer has loaded. This is a very effective way as most viruses load or activate when the explorer runs or executes itself.
You can download a free version of Quick Heal Anti-Virus Total Security 2009 from the blog link below. You can easily update your software also from there.

If you want to use a good anti-virus for free i would recommend Antivir Avira personal edition.Very fast, high detection rate, removal, regular updates, doesnot slow down your computer at all.You can also update to paid version.Give it a try once!

I feel my McAfee has always protected me from the things I need to be protected from. Norton is good but it slows down the computer a lot. Kaspersky is nice too but it asks too many questions if something is found and its too doubty. It doubts everything and because of that blocks everything.... I have heard escan is also good...
But if you ask me, I'll tell you McAfee anytime...

Hello,
From my experience, I would say that Kaspersky is the way to go. I have tried other Anti Virus programs but none of them were quite up to par, but Kaspersky was by far the best at detecting viruses. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

AVG free antivirus is the best antivirus. I am using this one since two years. I don't have any problem with virus. It highly recommended to scan any storage device which is connected to pc.

Both the anti-virus are good and catches all kind of viruses ,trojans and spywares.
I'm happy with both the anti-viruses......

No bro, i forgot to mention, i have a dual booted system.I'm using 2 operating system, one is Windows Seven RC and other is XP-32 bit.
I've installed Kaspersky Internet Security in Windows Seven and Symantec Endpoint security in Windows XP.
Also both the anti-virus didn't use much resources and doesn't slow down the system.
But yes you cant have both the anti-virus in a single operating system. Their registry settings will clash with each other. So you cant have 2 anti-virus in one operating system.
But you can have if you 2 operating systems on a single computer.

Sorry bro, i'm currently having RC(Release candidate) version of Windows Seven which was offered by Microsoft for free(with genuine license and key) after updating their Beta version.
Windows Seven RC edition will work till March 2010. But now its not available for download as Microsoft has launched its Final Release.
Also there is some problem with demonoid.com .So just wait for few weeks and i'll pm you the links to download Windows Seven.
Have a great day!!!

Different antiviruses have their strengths and weaknesses, but, as far as I see, the top contenders are: Avira and Kaspersky. These two often swap places between first-and-second on tests, Avira for example have highly respected virus search capability and its almost all-around features is a bonus, same can be said on Kaspersky..... Norton, MCafee, Eset are all good brands (especially Norton, by fixing its memory consumption problem) but, they rarely get to the top 3 lists.... For those that are free, I highly recommend the one from Avira and Avast! (Avast have a great update manager)
