I know every antivirus has a disable protection switch unfortunately you are allowed only for a certain time or until you boot up. This is a protection actually by the antivirus itself so that malware cannot disable it and leave you unprotected. Try to look at NAV options if you could set "disable protection until you allow it" or something. But even if you did disable nav, scan is the only thing off. The program will still be called at start up, slowing you down and eats up precious system resources, and still do update. If you still have the CD to install it, it would be better to just un-install it and just re do it when needed. It is not wise to install two antivirus at the same time, It will just wastes you resources, slows you down and will not improve the effectiveness of detection.

Hey, I don't really know how to not have Norton at the start up of your computer. Hopefully someone else will be able to answer your question better than I have done, in a really good way so you can actually benefit from it. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

Hi mooonchild I think you better not keep two antiviruses at the same time, it might make your computer a lot slower, so think of removing one of them, if you ask me i would remove norton and keep avg... currently i am using avast and i am quiet satisfied with it.... . . . . have a good day!

I don't remember if the option for disabling the Norton is available or not. But if you install some process analyzing software in your system , you will be having the option of killing some process from being start up(In the task manager). You can kill the process related to the particular anti virus software, and three or four process will be running for this software.Better option is uninstalling them properly.Because the performance of the both anti virus software will not be good even if we disable one and the other active anti virus will show some exe file of the other software as dangerous threat.

Hmmm, hey for future referance, never have more than one antivirus on your PC. They mess up with each other and cause a lot of trouble. Maybe you are facing some troubles right now. Well to remove it completely, open Norton and disable its protection. It comes with a protection that keeps scanning some file or the other everytime. You have to disable this. Then go to add/remove programs and remove Norton. This will completely remove it... Hope I was of help..

Well if you are fine with avg alone then you can uninstall norton. It was save your system resources apart from not lunching at start up. Another way to get around this problem is, that is if you don't want to uninstall norton yet, then you can use system configuration utility and uncheck norton and its programs. By the way i was wondering how you can have these two antivirus together, AVG and Norton. I usually gets and error message when i try to use more than one antivirus at a time.

Nevermind about having two antivirus, but how are you doing with your problem of norton at start up. Were you able to get rid of the problem?
