My dad and I were having a debate tonight over what cut of french frie is the best. He says that "shoestring" (the really long and super skinny ones, like the fries at McDonald's), but I disagree. I find those fries get cold too fast and too hard if you cook them even a min or two longer than suggested.
My favorite type of fries is called "steak cut" i don't know if they are called that all over the world, but here (in Montreal anyway) they are. They are the really fat/thick and flat ones. If anyone knows the restaurant called Kojax, they serve them there. I love those ones because they don't get too hard and they stay hot longer than the really skinny fries.
Crinkle cut fries are pretty good too.
What about you.....
Which cut of fries is your favorite, and why ?

I guess I'm more like your dad when it comes to French Fries. I like the "shoestring" fries better because they are easier to season with salt and theres more crispy taste and less of the potato. But....any kind of fries is good fries. happy mylotting

True, but I am an avid potato lover, I'll eat it in so many different ways, so that could be another main reason why I enjoy steak fries so much, you actually taste the potato-ness lol

I like my fries crispy with a bit of a crunch to them. The shoestring fries like at Mcdonalds or Burger King are what I like the most. Eegee's serve a very good crinkle cut that is a little thicker but will lose its crunchiness quickly as it cools. I really don't care for the so-called steak fries. Most places I have had them they put too much coating on them plus, too soft, no real crunch. The crunchy steak fries are crunchy mostly because they were cooked too long from what I have seen.

I guess I'm not really much of a crunchy fry fan lol. That could be why i like steak fries so much.

I'm not actually very particular. I like french fries, however way it's served. I also like the "fun" fries like crinkle cut ones like you mentioned and twister fries. I also like fries with potato skin! I don't even mind the soggy ones or cold ones. I just like fries!! LOL

I don't think one type of fry is the best as i like the french fries from Mcdonalds when they are hot and salty of course. Then i like going to BBQ restraunts for the steak fries and eating the crunchy ones that are almsot burnt and good. Then there the crinkled ones that are good when there crunchy and hot of course.
I really enjoy Checkers fries as they have a great taste to them and when their hot there jsut right.

crinkle cut fries are better for me too. that's getting a lot of the potato in your mouth at the least amount of time . however, am not pretty sure with the steak cut of fries you mentioned. i think it is way too much of a potato to bite into. the only steak cut relative of the potato that would be nice fried is sweet potato. we do that here .

I love Mcdonald's fries. They are the best when they are fresh and salty. They are my ultimate favorite fast food fries...but if I cook them, I like the waffle fries.

It doesn't really matter to me. I just like to eat french fries. I can eat the shoestring thin kind and the fatter and thick ones too. I never got to try curly fries before. They would be nice to eat one day too.
