I would make attempts to minimise the ability. Being able to read other people's minds has both positive and negative sides.
On the positive side we can react to make a situation becomes better. For example we would know what to say or do to diffuse a tense situation. We will know what to buy to satisfy the needs or desire of someone very close to us. In fact the list is fairly long.
On the negative side we can turn into a maneuvering person, deceiving, because we know exactly what to say or what to do. Other than that, imagine knowing all their thoughts about us. It can be quite scary.
I am talking from experience.

Oh! The potential! What a great way to mess with people's minds!!! Just think - any idea they had, you could voice first; any idea for any changes they have, you could voice how that wouldn't work; any bad thought they had, you could turn it around before they knew what hit them.
Oh geez! To have the power for just one month!!! My office would be a heavenly place to work!
