Mine by most folks was Shelly wich is often used in place of Michelle. However mine when I was really small was Shelly Beans cause I loved to eat pork'n beans and upon occasion my mother still calls me that. Also my Grandfather for some reason couldn't say my name & it was easier for him to call me Shelly. My hubby also likes to call me Shelly or Shelby.

I had a nickname for my nickname. My full name is Margaret but my nickname was Meg. There must be something about short, one-syllable names though, because my family always called me Meggie. My Dad had a special nickname that only he called me - Magoo. Which turns out to be quite accurate now because, without glasses or contact lenses, I can only see about 7 inches in front of my face :)

well, besides going by Beth, as a shortened form of Elizabeth, i had a few nicknames, or pet names from my parents and brother growing up......*trying to decide if i really want to share them, as they are somewhat embarassing* ok..here goes..the easier one first. When my little brother was learning to talk, he had a really hard time pronouncing Beth, so it always came out sound like Beef instead, and when he tried to imitate my parents calling me Elizabeth, it would come out LiverBeef.....go ahead..laugh...it is quite hilarious. But the other one is slghtly more odd, and more embarassing as my parents STILL call me this "Toe-Jam"...*sigh*...appearently, when i was a baby, and even before i was old enough to walk or get around, my parents could bathe me, put me in clean cloths and socks..and still somehow when they would take my socks off, i would have wound up with dirt between my toes...which my parents affectionatly refered to my my "toe-jam"...and that eventually turned into my nickname... even though i am now almost thirty, on my birthday my dad will call my vvoicemail and sing me happy birthday, but instead of singing "happy birthday dear beth..." it is always "happy birthday dear toe-jam....happy birthday to you"

That's funny because my hubby used to call his siter LinDUCK. Her name was linda and since he couldn't say it as a tot it eventually turned into "duck". So when we talk about his sisters she's always referred to as Duck ;0)

I was often called Ambie because my name is Amber. Sometimes that would grow into Amber Pamber. One of my dad's friend used to call me Ambrosia, and he'd call my sister Mindrose (her name is Mindy). He still does that to this day. I don't mind Ambie although I prefer Amber.

yes! i have a nickname as a child. since birth my family and friends fondly call me by my nickname that is --winky! my real name is marilaine (a combination of my dad mariano and mom elaine's names) and my nickname is winky. my mom got my nickname from a poem entitled "little twinkle winky". in school and in the workplace i am not known for my real name. they will only know my real name in memos, certificates and other formal events in the office that require using my real name. it was only in washington, dc where i work as a case manager an independent living program for teen moms that my colleagues call me by my first/real name ('though they had difficulty pronouncing my real name e.g. marlelaine...marleena...ma-laine, etc.). their not comfortable calling me by my nickname because they associated my it with one of the teletubbies characters --tinky winky. i love being called by my nickname. i feel so loved and accepted. my nickname also speaks about my personality--bubbly, smart and pretty! have a great day shelby!

That's a nice nickname. I didn't have a nickname when I was little. Everyone just called me Vivian. I have a nickname now though. Friends and family would call me Vee, sometimes Vivi, and real close friends gets to call me Piggy because I'm a bit of a lazy girl
