Have you ever been pulled over by a cop?

I have not officially been pulled over. I came close a couple of times though. Once I was leaving the mall I worked at yrs ago and I was so po'd that I drove a whole 35mph @ 10:30@ night. The parking lot was empty basically and I was a bit upset at my day. Of course there happened to be a squad there & he pulled out behind me. Great, I'm thinking just make my day 100% worse... waiting for him to turn on his lights & waited. I drive past the road that leads to the cop shop and he's next to me waiting at the light and asks me what the rush was. I told him I was upset, exhausted and I wanted to go home. He told me to watch my speed and turned down the road tward the cop shop and I continued home. Breating a sigh of relief.

I really hate the thought of being pulled over by cops because once they stop us , they will find some or the other fault & then we will have to give some money to them so that we can get out of there soon. Things get worse if we have a Girl friend with us. There will be 100 more questions on top of that.

A lot of times cops just want to harass people rather than protect them. You give them a badge and they think they're bigger than the average citizen. I'm not hating on cops. its just that I know there are a lot of bad cops out there and we must criticize them. Cops are liable for their actions just as anyone else is. But cops protect cops even when cops are in the wrong.

the only way these guys up here ever find a true crime is if they trip over it.
too busy harrassing people.

Wow, I hate when cops just bust some random person being a lawful citizen going to work and totally overlook real crime in their city.

How strange perhaps they were following that person? Or thought you knew something about the person you were next to? Instead of it being that there was an open seat and you sat down til you got to your stop.

I've been pulled over numerous times. Sometimes it was for a brake light being out, or because my muffler was too loud. I've been pulled over for speeding dozens of times, but only gotten 2 speeding tickets. A few times I'd get off with just a warning, but usually the cop would find some other excuse to ticket me. I'd get pulled over for speeding but pull away with a ticket for having a busted head light, things like that.

It's been over 4 years since my last speeding ticket, so it's no longer on my insurance, and I actually didn't have insurance in all that time. We were using my father in law's car, so it didn't hurt us any except the cost of the ticket.
I actually haven't truly been pulled over in all that time. The last ticket I got was when the police did a road block to check for registration and seat belts and stuff... well my car was uninspected. I totally deserved that one!

Yeah but you really dont want a speeding ticket, that make's the insurance go up. You also get point's on your DL for speeding ticket's. The head light's your insurance wont go up and no point's. So in a way you were better off, and the ticket was probally cheaper to.

Yes i have been pulled over quite a few times, mainly for minor offences such as not wearing a seatbelt and speeding, not massively over the limit but enough, luckily i have never got a ticket of points on my license though.
One time i got pulled over three times in two hours for not wearing a seatbelt, i couldnt wear one as i had just had an operation and i had to repeat myself three times, i asked them if i was being filmed on one of those candid camera shows

Did they believe you? Or did they ask you to show your scar? And 3 times n 2 hours sounds like the doughnut shop must of been closed or they didn't get their quota yet.

If someone complies the law, he or she should never be afraid that the cop pull you over.

I've seen that too where they flip on their lights just to go thru a red for no apparent "emergency" just didn't feel like waiting with the rest of us schmoes.

You have too much faith that the cops themselves follow the rules. I can't count how many times I've seen the police put on their siren only to turn into the McDonalds drive-thru.

I've only gotten pulled over once in all my years of driving. I got pulled over one night as I was headed home because my passenger side headlight was out. I only found out that it was out the day before so I didn't have much of a chance to get it fixed. I was driving home from working that day. As in I was driving from my apartment two hours away to my hometown to visit family and it was about 9 at night. So I got pulled over for that and I would have gotten a warning only if my insurance card hadn't been missing. So I had to go back in on Monday morning to prove that I was an imsured driver. Thankfully the charges were dropped when I turned in the insurance card.

Yes, I've been pulled over before. But only once so far in the 18 years that I've been driving (knock on wood).
One day, a few years ago, while I had been driving home with my oldest son he had a meltdown. It made me rather nervous so I end up driving a bit faster than I should have. To make matters worse I had been driving my mother-in-law's car and it wasn't registered or insured! Yikes! So when the cop pulled me over for speeding I thought I'd be in for it. But after running my license though he let me go with a warning. Boy was I relieved and ever so thankful!
Happy mylotting!

hi snugglebunnies yes but it was on foot.I was walking
through the civic center on my way to work at the'library
at six in the evening and a police officer follows me'and asks'me
for my id.I am thorugly confused as I had done nothing'wrong then he showed me a picture.a woman about my age at that time was still'
at large after being one of two bank robbers. I had to bring'him into the library where he got confirmation from my supervisor that I'd been working the night of the robbery and that i was who I said i'was. I never ever heard anymore about it but it really shocked me that a
person who looked like me was going around breaking the law.

That sounds like quite a peculiar incident! Who would of thought someone similar to you was floating around commiting crimes. I'd imagine if he stll has suspicions of you they'd know where to find you @ the library ;0)

I went a long, long time without getting pulled over, but one morning I was going to work coming off a really bad night's sleep. There was a cop behind me with his lights on pulling over the person ahead of me. I was acutely aware that he was there. SO aware that when I made my left turn, I wasn't paying attention to the fact that there was an oncoming car. The cop didn't care about my explanation and gave me a lecture completely unrelated to what had happened. Stupid me couldn't quite stop myself from crying a little. Why is it that some people manage to get out of tickets, I wonder. 20+ years of safe driving and one stupid mistake and I couldn't do it. lol

It does suck getting pulled over by a cop. I remember about 9 years ago when I was working the overnight shift, I was pulled over by a cop on the way home from work. It was bad enough that I wasn't getting paid enough, then this guy cop decided to make my night 500 times worst by turning on his lights and loud sounds behind me after I had stopped at the red light and then pulled off at the green light.
So I just pulled on over after a few seconds. Then he asked me, "why did it take you so long to pull over?" I said, "Sorry I didn't notice it took so long, I have to cross the bridge to go home from work, and it sucks."
He said my brake light was out, that's why he pulled me over. Then he said get that fixed before you get back on the road again.
Wow! That was a HUGE relief! But when I got home, I checked my brake light, and it was working just fine.
What was he trying to pull?

Cops should be avoided by all citizens. Usually the only time I'm in contact with them is when they pull me over for speeding. I met some cools one but most cops I've encountered were just bullies with a badge. So like I said, avoid them and only call them when necessary.

Hi snuggle bunnies, a couple of times about 5 years back I was when they didn't know me but it was just routine checks to see my papers.
I dealt with it in the way I had been advised as don't bother carrying my papers round with me, I just went into I do not understand mode, until they got bored and sent me on.

A few times, to be lectured by a cop. So annoying. Especially when you know they could be doing something else to catch people doing something really bad, not just if you go a little faster over the speed limit. GRRRR!!!

I got a ticket once for not stopping at a stop sign. Even though I was going 5 miles an hour and there was a big truck turning in that no car would have mowed through. But the state trooper's around here don't care. Believe me they will ticket anyone for anything. Even for stupid thing's.
