I was wondering, why do people actually go to school, college, become big time degree holders? Why do they have this huge pile of books with them? What is the use?
When I asked most of the students in our area(in quite a casual mood) they responded by stating the inevitable fact - "To get a good job."
I think that we should study only to improve our knowledge. And become good human beings by using it.
What do you think?

Hello,
I personally think that people study in order to get a good job in life. That is what everyone says, and everyone thinks. But it is more than that, we also need to learn things to improve our knowledge and our minds. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

I got a Bachelors and Masters degree because it was required for my chosen career path. I did not make my choice for the money, but to get the training and be able to do something to really make a difference in my client's lives. I feel happy and fulfilled- which was my main reason for seeking the degrees I did. Plus, I really liked school, learning and working on my craft. I don't think I will ever get tired of learning.

Great responses all good. In my opinion eduaction is the most important weapon against oppression. You can see the life of people in impoverished nations where education is out of reach for most, but those that have been able to break through that barrier have been able to contribute to their respective countries. There are many unique reasons why people study, not just securing employment but empowering one to contribute to society in ways that you could not if you lacked the ability to understand, express, and lead. Studying is good, become not just a good person but an educated person so that you are capable of standing up to those that would oppress you.

True enough that there are good points to go to universities and study but for me I don't believe in getting good jobs by being a degree holder. Even if you have a degree it doesn't mean that you know anything. It is better to be a better person by gaining experience rather that just depending on books and theory. Lighten up, life is about making the most out of your experience. I do study casually to improve my knowledge but I don't believe that degree is the only way to get a good job.

HI Priya,
It is also a fact that most people study just to get a good job. we study for the sake of money not for the sake of knowledge. But it is also true that study give us knowledge and teach many things what we use in our daily life. For me job is a like a free gift with knowledge.

If we want knowledge, what are we supposed to EAT!! we cant stay alive on knowledge. We cant feed our children with knowledge. A good job will make way to everything, starting from knowledge to social status & you will be able to fulfill you needs. If its for gaining knowledge there are many courses which we can take from where we can gain a lot of knowledge, But if its a good Job is what we want, we need to take a some good courses & hence get a good job & live happily. I wonder the response of your kinds when they ask her dad for an Ice-cream & dad giving knowledge to her. No offenses to anyone I'm just taking it a little too lightly. Well to me once you have a good job,you will become a good human being & will definitely have a good knowledge. So Aim for something.

Right now, I study and go to school because it is fun for me and I really don't have anything else better to be doing. People say it would prepare me for my future so might as well. I don't know what job I could get in the future but I'm definitely interested in the subject I'm going to study

..to study means to gain knowledge and information.. and eventually, gaining knowledge will lead someone to land on a job.. In our country, parents would always say, "study very well so that you land on a good and stable job.." However, i believe that studying is more than earning a good and stable job.. it is gaining knowledge to help us cope with the changes of this world.. We do need to study hard and well.. it will help us a lot to understand our own world and our self..
