How do people in western countries think of their doctors?

i get information from the TV and internet that doctors in western countries always get high income and respect,but it's not at all in some eastern countries,doctors here can hardly get the similar status like ,such as in america,so i wonder how do western people think of doctors in their countries.thanks ......
