How many of you other mylotters have also heard of this song? Was really surprised to read where Ted Kennedy died tonight, even though I knew he was sick and did have brain cancer. May he rest in peace, whatever his politics and beliefs were.
Was anyone else somewhat surprised to learn of his passing and has anyone else ever heard of the song?

Yes I love that song and I can't believe Ted Kennedy passed away just two weeks after his sister Eunice Kennedy Shiver. I know he was sick but its still unbelievable. I just feel this year has to be a record for so many famous people dying.

Thanks for responding and for your input. I too, loved that song and it just sort of came to mind last night when I read of Ted Kennedy's seemingly unexpected passing. Even though we all knew he was sick, I hadn't recently read info of any current problems he was experiencing, so hopefully he just passed away peacefully in his sleep or perhaps a nap. And yes, his sister Eunice had recently passed away. Maybe they were extremely close in life, and somehow her passing, helped to call him to come join her and the others who were also waiting for the both of them. Who knows?

Thats exactly what I thought that he knew his sister had passed so it was easier for him to follow her. What a family full of so much tradegy.

I have heard the song many times, and like you i knew that he was sick, it surprised me when i heard the news to. My prayers will go out to the family. I was a child when his brothers John, and Bobby were killed, and with his sister passing just a few weeks ago.

Thanks also for your comments. I too, like the song and find it soothing, though it is a sad one indeed. And while we both knew Ted was very sick, I hadn't seen or read or heard any recent news to indicate where he was having problems. I do remember that a short while ago or so, he had to visit the hospital, but thought/hoped he was as alright as he could be, all things considered. Hopefully he just passed away peacefully in his sleep. My prayers also go out to his family and all of the many others that loved him, but especially those who knew and were close to him.
I also was a child when the world and all of the other Kennedy's had their brothers John and Bobby, so swiftly and tragically removed not only from their lives, but from the future history of the USA, due to their untimely demises. What a sad thing. And yes, about their sister Eunice, perhaps she and Ted shared a closeness in life, which they felt compelled to also share in the afterlife?
