Chinese Valentine's Day

The Chinese lunar calendar told me just now that today is our Chinese Valentine's Day, but I didn't realize it until a college friend texted me "Happy Festival" and she also sent me a good news of hers, she is pregnant with a three month old baby. We are in the same age, but having a baby is not on my schdule now due to work pressure, maybe, my son, I won't see you if your mom and me can't live in an aprtment of our own. I'm curious as to how Chinese Valentine's Day is celebrated. I guess I'm wondering if it's celebrated like we celebrate V-day here in the U.S.A. Valentine's day tends to be a pretty big holiday that gives people the excuse to buy each other cards, flowers, chocolates, etc. and go out on dates or to go out for dinner. Is it a big deal like that in China?

It is becoming popular these years, and it could be considered as a Chinese version of your V-day, young guys tend to follow suit, but not all of our Chinese people, I guess, at least I didn't buy any rose for my wife...she may not be happy with that. Now it is not such a big holiday, but some day, it will....

I almost forgot about this thing. You've reminding me. Glad to know that there's other people care about Chinese culture here. Since i'm not live in China, then sometimes such Chinese events are not celebrated here. We only know if there's an event today but nothing to do to celebrate it. But however it's better than nothing. At least we know that there's an event in other part in this world. I think the essence of celebration is like the western valentine's day. All about love, all about happiness, and all about couple. Good luck and wish you all the best. Happy mylotting.
