Do you take vitamins or do you think a balance diet is enough and do you think taking to many vitamins can make you sick.

I take a number of different vitamin's everyday, even though i eat a good diet, the foods that we eat are so processed anymore you do not get the proper vitamins from them, i also take a good mineral supplement, and a number of herbs.

Some of the vitamins are stored in your body and as far as I know you can end up getting sick if you have to much of one vitamin. How do you check that you don't take too much of one vitamin? Do you buy the vitamins that provide 100% of the daily diet or do you buy the once that provide more that 100%. I'm asking because by mistake I ended up buying vitamins that provided 200% of the daily diet and I ended up getting sick.

I go twice a year to a natural practitioner that takes blood and checks as to what vitamins, and minerals that i am lacking, and those are the ones that i take. That way i know what my body needs. and sometimes what i need is more than the recommended daily allowance for them, so i take more. and if you are taking synthetic vitamins you are not doing yourself any good.

Interested really, it does make sense especially having someone check if you body is in balance and what vitamins you need. Then again some vitamins such as vitamin C you can never have enough off since the body doesn't store vitamin C

i believe in healthy eating and rely less on tablets. however i do take vitamins symptomatically. if i feel fatigue, excessive tiredness i take vitamins (tablets / supplements)

If you feel fatigue or excessive tiredness do you take vitamin C or vitamin B or B12

I've been battling colon cancer for almost seven years it spread (metasticised) to my lungs and liver, I am 80 years young. I've been getting a weeks worth of chemo treatments every two weeks for all of this time. My encologist and nurses at the treatment center can't believe how well I've been doing and how healthy I look. My wife and I have been taking vitamins for several years. Here is a list of the vitamins that I take every day: B12, E, D, Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc and Centrum Silver. My nurses have commented that the vitamins have helped me considerably to keep my blood and health in this condition. So, we definately believe in taking vitamins.

This is really great to know. I'm glad to hear you are doing well. Chemo treatments are really hard on the body. Cancer runs in my family as well and I will certainly keep in mind what you wrote. Good luck and be well.

If I understand you correct you believe a balance diet in it self is not enough and a healthy lifestyle includes taking vitamins. Do you think this is required because we are living under a large amount of stress these day? People a hundred years ago didn't take vitamin then again they didn't live as long as we do.

Yes I do. I am a vegetarian, so I take a good quality food-source multi-vitamin everyday to help with the vitamins and nutrients I don't get from not eating meat. I've noticed that since I've been taking them (for about two years), I have more energy, feel better, have a better mood, and have healthier skin, hair and nails. You don't realize how your body reacts when it is missing a vital nutrient and how much healthier you can be when your body is in balance. XOXO Busie

I used to be a vegetarian as well and when I started eating meat again I had more energy. Are you sure about the better mood. You think the vitamins also affect your mood?
