Hello krupesh! I am a filipino too married to American. I am actually in USA right now and that my partner petitioned me. Before, I don't mind where we (my husband and I) as long as we're together and that we will be okay financially. But when I came here, I understand now why many filipinos would want to come here. It is because of the way of living and political reasons.

that's one of the reason why I'm not totally happy...I mean, I am happy to be here especially because my husband tries everything to make me happy and that I love him so much. But everytime I think about my family in the Philippines, I feel sad and that I really miss them so much.

Hi !
Where had you been all these days? You have been out of here for weeks together.
.....but would you not miss your dear & near ones like your parents , brothers & sisiters? Just for the sake of yourself can you imagine to leave all your near & dear ones?

Indeed that's the truth. Perhaps due to poverty here in the country, to help or suffice their families' needs. To give their children better future even if it means being away with them, that's a sacrifice they have to make. And I absolutely salute those people who not only give benefits to their families but as well as to the economy of the Philippines, that's reality.

Well they are maybe planning to go abroad for a job paying job and i think if everyone is given a chance then they will most likely to go abroad, especially the US. I don't know whats so special about the US that most people would like to go there, i mean for me as long as i earn more that enough then i'm happy staying here in our country and we have a beautiful country, there's no place like home.

It's not just women, but men as well. Lots of people here in the Philippines prefer to work abroad. It's because the pay abroad is better as compared to the pay here.

I also want to go to abroad to work but live their permanently I can't I still love to live here. The reason why many Filipinos want to migrate abroad because their have a good job there that pay high than here or they petition by their relatives or their foreign spouses. It is the opposite of other foreigners who want to live here permanently because their retirement conversion here is much bigger. Like Koreans, Americans and Japanese I'm not surprised anymore if they going to dominate our country in the future. Lack of opportunity here is the one reason why we want to migrate.

I dont think that the migration of philippines to the other parts of the world is due to the poverty. It is a common feature of a developing and underdeveloped country. When we compare the statistics of migration of Indians and Philippines, the migration of philippines are much less than Indians.
Other reason is that most of the Philippines are able to communicate in English. This is an added advantage for them in the global job market. Now it is common that people are moving to different part of the world whether they are from a developed country, developing country or underdeveloped country. Thanks to the globalisation.

Varghese its not a part of them but who ever you ask they are ready to leave their country.I would sense that it might be because of poverty.I agree they know english well but it doesn't mean that they should leave the country & settle somewhere else. They can make money & come back again. One more thing is that they tend to marry people from outside their country.

kupresh, were not like the Chinese were they mostly marry their own race men/women..Our women have a freedom of choice...that's it..it doesn't matter whether they are rich or not. too bad some pinoy guys aren't that competitive though

few things i can say about that. first, they had it with politics and loose hope that they simply wanted to get away from it all. second, they found a handsome or beautiful partner that are willing to petition them abroad once they married them. lastly, they got a job abroad at the same time, they're being petitioned by their parents.

of course, they're some good looking but every things different now. some have colonial mentality or simply they liked foreigners better..uh, political scenario? i think that's a very very big and broad subject there..making a difference isn't that easy at all when all seems trying to make a difference....wait why only check on Philippine WOmen, why not others too?..

The philipinos are adventurous lot. They are many filipinos in my country and most of them are from the southern part of Philippines. Some of them have become citizen here. Two of my tenants are filipinos and they are doing quite well financially here as they are skilled workers.

Hi krupesh! I think the real reason why Filipino wants to settle abroad instead in the country is that the media always portrays the government in everyday news as being corrupt, and dirty politics is at the forefront in everyday news. Even if the government does good things like providing livelihood for poor families it is not in the headlines but placed elsewhere in the newspaper and not reported on tv news. In other words if Filipinos (not only Filipinas) always see this kind of news on tv and the newspaper they tend to think there's no hope in the Philippines that's why going abroad is their only option. Other factor why Filipinos go abroad is the pay much higher than that in the Philippines. Another factor especially to the Filipinas, is that they just marry for convenience. In many poor families, whose Filipinas have married foreigners, the mothers had convinced their daughters to marry a foreigner to get their families out from poverty. The parents including the siblings left here are asking financial support from their lucky daughter now married to a "rich" American. There's even two websites that I know, both run by two different couples, (the two Filipinas both married to foreigners) that encourage single Filipina women to look for their foreign partner as their future husband. Colonial mentality is still strong here in the Philippines

Maybe they get to used of the lifestyle abroad and they don't want to live again in Phils. Coz being in other country, it sounds posh.
Well me, im living now in England, but i do preferred to settle back in Phils after we sort everything here. I do still love my homeland coz my family were there. And life their is less stress and relax, unlike here you really need to go to work everyday to pay your bills. :P

I am also a Filipina, and one thing that I can share to you why they want to settle outside is for security reason as far I know. But not all women here has common thought of being financially secured to foreign partner. We are really belong to third country and there is poverty but as a native Filipina, we maintain the old ways of tradition when it comes to marriage. Most of the time we cannot predict what we become and who is our partner in the future. I still believe in the power of love. I know they fall in love to white, or foreign men that is why they settled outside.

What about you? Would you fall for a guy who is white or of foreign origin? Why wont you search one in your own country? Wont you follow any traditions? Or is there any tradition as such?

I think that's the main reason--poverty, and most of these women are trying to escape the misery in the Philippines by going out to a foreign land and marry foreigners.
I am a Filipina but I never entertain this idea:living my country and settle in a foreign land. For me this is highly absurd because we cannot escape poverty and misery, it depends on how we perceived life. We become so very poor if we think we are poor but if we have a good disposition and strong faith in God, living in the Philippines is a paradise.
Even if we go to the foreign country if we won't change our attitude and perception about life, then we still live in misery. I always believed that success and happiness can be attained even if I will stay in my country. Philippines is a paradise and this is the only country which I can call a HOME, where I treated as a first class citizen, so I won't take a stupid step by settling to a foreign land and endure the rant of bully employers plus the dreadful discrimination issues living in a foreign country.
Every place is a paradise if we just know how to live life meaningfully.
