Senator Ted Kennedy passed away without seeing the medical issue go thru that he had worked on for so long. These people should be ashamed of themselves. That man man worked for the better of people in this country for many years. It appears to me that he did not get the respect he deserved.

He spent the last 38 years tring to get health care through congress, that kind of says something about the power of the health care lobby. It would be nice to see health care reform, but it won't happen anytime soon.

I hope it does go thru soon. Thirty eight years! I did not realize it was that long. That even makes my point stronger.

That is so true. People who already have health care are afraid of change and do not give a darn about those who do not. And meanwhile the insurance companies are getting richer. My brother works hard as a mechanic and has NONE. He pays his taxes, and some fool said well he can go to the ER. Like they would n0t send a bill, I know they would because they hounded my son for a very long time when he was younger and no loinger under our health care.

That is sad, hopefully all his hard work isn't wasted. The Kennedy family had lots and lots of tragedies in their family, more then their fair share.

I think it is sad also that he did not get to do what he set out to do for us. I wish it would have happened before he passed away. I hope it still does so he can still reap the praises for it.

I find it ironic that a few days ago a few Senators had remarked on different TV shows that had Ted Kennedy been healthy these past few months they believed a bipartisan compromise on health care reform would have been reached. He had that unique ability to reach across the aisle and get others to work with him. One thing that would be totally shameful would be for him to be remembered primarily for NOT seeing his dream of health care for all come true instead of all the things he accomplished throughout his amazing career. Anyone between the ages of 18 and 21 who appreciates the right to vote can thank Senator Kennedy. Any female athlete or parents of a female athlete can thank him for the fact there is more equality for women's sports than there were years ago. He's touched so many lives in so many ways and while he was a wealthy man from a wealthy family he never forgot those who hadn't been as blessed as he had. May he rest in peace and may he get every bit of the respect he so deserved! Annie

Yes,that whole family has earned respect and it would be a shame that he was only known for dying before his dream was forfilled because he did do a great amount to help people. And no they were not perfect, but you have to remember that they were are are human as we are as God made us to be,unlike His Son.

hi dfollin yes its a darned shame that Senator Ted 'Kennedy passed away without seeing the medical issue'go through and thats because so many people are greedy and'think only of themselves, they dont care if there are thousands of'people who need and do not get adequate health care. I am apalled at the'fuss this has stirred up. and the nasty comments people make because they do not agree with us over this issue. what ever happened to the idea that we are supposed to respect each others opinions, and not'insult them because they do not jibe with yours.

Night before last the news reporters were doing a street interview of the americans. They were asking people what they thought of the health care reform bill. And this guy was in his early 20's and he said he did not like it because he was healthy and didn't think that his taxes should pay for other people's medical expenses because they are not healthy.Well,I guess he make's more than $250,000 a year, because that who's taxes got raised to pay for this health care reform. And God forbid, this young man should get sick or be in an accident where he cannot work any longer, therefore looses his private health care. So,he won't be so healthy anymore and can't go get medical help because he didn't want the health care reform to go thru.

These bills shouldn't take so long to pass. It would have been really nice if Ted Kennedy would have seen this one to the end. I'm also very sad that he did not live to see this one all the way trhough. Hopefully when this gets passed, it will be in his honour.

I believe a man like Kennedy who stood stoicly in his views and adhered to his beliefs so firmly, would be APPALLED at the thought of people throwing away what they believed in just to honor him.

The problem is that the American people don't want this health care reform and they would be unlikely to want it passed just so a dying Ted Kennedy gets his last wish. Actually his last wish was that the legislature would change the law so that the governor could appoint his successor instead of his replacement being fairly chosen by the electorate. He won't get that last wish, either. This is the US of A and the will of the people is supposed to govern the land. It is not a shame that a bill they don't want has not been passed.

Tell that to Mary Jo Kopechne. Why should we be ashamed of shooting down a medical bill that would have destroyed our health care system?

What you went through was because Medicaid was government insurance. It doesn't pay enough to cover health care costs. The Kennedy bill would have placed everyone on a medicaid style government plan, and everyone would have suffered the same way you did. Your experience is exactly what I want to avoid, and why we needed, and thankfully did kill the Kennedy health plan.

Actually... I do. Maybe not all the facts in your specific case, but I have been researching government run health care for nearly 10 years. Ever since College in fact. I am well aware of what is in the Kennedy health bill. I'm also aware of how well socialized medicine works around the world, as well as in the US. And we do have socialized care here in the US. VA Hospitals are awful, and that's a socialized care system. MassHealth in Massachusetts is also a socialized system, and it is awful as well. There are thousands of government run low-income or free clinics across the country, and nearly all of them are horrible. So when Kennedy's health bill would have placed everyone under a government system, to claim it wouldn't lower quality when it has in every other health system it's involved in, is not logical.

Senator Ted Kennedy - Senator Ted Kennedy from Massachusetts who passed away on August 26th.
Just because the Ted Kennedy's health reform has not be put forth yet, does not mean that they did not respect him.I am from Massachusetts, and the Kennedy family was respected and loved by all people, regardless of what the side each person was on. Respecting someone has nothing to do with WHAT he believe in, and it is how he demonstrated his beliefs. He was admired for the fight he put forth to see things thru, he was respected and admired for the love he had for the middle class and the poor, he was respected and admired for the dedication he showed in trying to get the best help for all peoples. Other people have a right to their political side, and just because they may not have agreed with Kennedy's politics, they still admire him for who he was.

I like Ted Kennedy as well as all Kennedys. The health care reform was something he did promote. I do not. But, still he has my respect in the uttermost of all ways. I lived in the JFK days/ admin and am proud of it ! The health care reform bill will go or not with or without Ted. Geez, he was a good man. He just happened to die on the day it was his turn and I'm sure if he'd lived the bill would pass or it wouldn't. Period. Give the man the respect he deserves.
