New found Love of Fishing

So I haven't been fishing since high school, that's over 10 years now. I took my cousin out to the local lake with some new poles and clearance sale lures we picked up. I have these little bluegill swimming lures that are just awesome. I think I played with it to make it swim more than I actually fished! I had to relearn to cast, but it didn't take long. The problem I had was how far I could cast. I could see beautiful bass jumping everywhere, but I kept casting like 5-10 feet shy of where they seemed to be. I had a blast and I'll be fishing a lot more from now on. I would love to hear from others about their new found love of fishing, or funny stories you have. What is your favorite fish and bait/lures? Does anyone have any pointers on cleaning fish? I've never really done it myself. In your opinion, what's the best tasting freshwater fish? What is your favorite freshwater fish recipe? (I love cooking!)
