There are a lot of people that earn great money without going to university, so I don't think it's very necessary to do a course in university, but I think it's the easiest way.

For third world countries, where finding a job is a stiff competition and boils down to who finished a Bachelor's degree, obtaining a university degree is a very important tool for survival.
In our country, Philippines, everybody is groomed to get a College Degree because our main source of living is finding a job, since companies here turn down under graduates, we really have to strive hard to earn a degree other wise we cannot find a decent job that could support our standard of living here. But of course, having a college degree is not a surefire to success. There are people who never finish college but are very successful individuals, but again, if they are living in highly industrialized nations.

it depends on the person itself if her or she want to go to university and earn some degree. But for me I think it is necessary to go to universtiy if you want to because through this you can change and you learn more since you know to study for your future. But you can be fulfilled also whethere you study or not it depends on the person itself.

For me, yes it's important because something that I'll be dealing with seemingly can only be gained at university. I don't think it's necessary for everyone to go to university, but it is necessary for everyone to know their interest and what they will do upon education. It's not good to spend your thousands or millions dollar and years at one university without making you one good result. My suggestion is : think twice. =)

Definitely not.
What about musicians.. actors/actresses.. etc.
Although some/many may have degrees or went to university, it is definitely not necessary. Also, trades workers often don't have university educations, as a lot of them start working straight out of high school.

At first I wanted to say yes going to a university is important until I read sophie_dfuss's response. Now I'm inclined to say not everybody needs to go it just depends what you want out of life. For me it was expected, not to get some degree but to train my mind.

Not really I think. I am not a college graduate either and I have worked for several multi-international companies. I can speak foreign languages like Spanish, German and French that others can't do. I am also a good writer in the same time. There are a lot of university graduates even thought that I have masteral degrees as they have said that I am smarter than they do. Nobody in my workplace before can believe me that I didn't finished my college studies due to some personal and financial reasons from the past. Even though I am still proud of myself as I can speak and express myself moreover than a typical college graduate person. There are many successful persons and even the richest persons in this world that doesn't have a college degree like Bill Gates. You can read it here: http://finance.yahoo.com/career-work/article/107139/CEOs-Without-College-Degrees?mod=career-leadership
Those succesful persons in the world have very good ideas, confidence and risk-taker. They took a risk for the chance of an opportunity which made them excel in their field. If you can believe in yourself that you can do it, do it.

I also don't think it is necessary to have a bachelor's degree just to be successful. I want to go to college because there's a subject I'm interested in study but that doesn't mean college is right for everyone. My brother has already said he's not going to college but will learn to become a cook when he graduates high school. I think he has a good of a chance at success as someone who plans to attend university. Students should do what feels right to them

It really depends on what your eventual goals are. For some jobs, it is not necessary to go to a university. You might consider local training alternatives. However, if you are looking to get an advanced degree or enter one of the professions, going to a university is essential. Also, a university education also provides many opportunities for learning outside the classroom. So, there are a lot of things to weigh in the decision.
