An alumni of students gathered in Kerala after many many years. The 50+ students of now were all eager to meet their teachers and pay their respects to them. They went to the house of one of thier favourite teachers and were shocked to see him living with his wife and a widowed daughter in a leaking house with no facilities. The teacher, now 85 + remembered them and blessed them. The students, now men with high ranking status, decided to repay their teachers love and kindness over the years by shelling out money and building him a nice little cottage, which they did. Today with tears in his eyes, the teacher accepted the key to his new home. How often do you find students repaying thier teachers thus! I salute all these men who did not forget thier obligation to thier teacher in his time of need.

Hi yugasin, no, I am not from Kerala, but Mumbai. I read this news in the newspaper and it really moved me no end. I knew this was just my small way of saluting these men for what they did by writing about it in mylot. We are what we are today because of them. Salutations to such a Guru and disciples relationship. Thanks.

Everyone would think of teachers, who accompanied us in our growth, but only a few stand up front. They were those good in teaching first of all, and brought up your interest to the subjects. They also showed care and warmth that touched your heart and soul. They might not be beautiful or handsome, but appealing to you with their unique charming personality.

Yes, teachers are teachers first and last. They do not have to be handsome or pretty to rouse your interest in a subject. Their knowledge and how they impart it to the students is more important, and once you have the knack to teach, the students always remember you. Thanks.

This is indeed a wonderful story. That teacher must also be a good teacher to his students. Presently I am also a teacher and trying my best to be a good teacher. Hopefully someday my students will still remember me. Your students will remember you if you made a great impact to their lives.

Really they are the grateful students of that great teacher. Really we owe to our teachers. Without them we could not reach our present position. Do you remember your first teacher from whom you learned to write the letter 'A'? I also salute the men who did not forget the obligation to their teacher.

Hi bhanusb, these students have to be appreciated for doing what they did, 50 years later, but better late than never. When they met, it must have been a lovely time, remembering old times. We from our college still meet once a year, and what a lovely time we have meeting each other. We invite our college teachers too, and give them some token of our love and appreciation for all they did for us. We are what we are today because of them. No, i dont remember my school teacher who first taught me to write A. I remember my mom doing so. Thanks.

That was really nice to hear. That teacher might have been sincere and kind to his students in the past and so they have given him such a respect back. For me,I have respect only to the teachers in my school and that too up to the fifth standard.Teachers after that period were money oriented, partial and were into side business. So,they gained no respect from us.I don't think we can see more dedicated teachers now.

I suppose you are right. Teachers these days have become very commercialised and partial to students who take tutions from them. This is really sad, however, Im sure there must be some teachers till in this world who are dedicated to their profession, and bringing out great achievers in this world. Thanks.

They are no less worthy than their teacher. If a teacher is respected for he deserves to be, well here are a bunch of students who need also I may sound like exaggerating- they are also worthy of worship. In original Indian Culture a teacher is to be worshipped.

Yes, the status of a Guru is vererable. The Guru must have been really good to have moved the students to do what they did. And yes, like I said, the students are to be saluted and 'worthy of worship' for doing what they did. Such students are rare and such teachers are rare too. Thanks.

Yes, kunizzul, its a heart warming story and we hope we all learn from this act of the students that our duty to our teachers is life long. We must repay them back in some form or the other for the time and devotion extended to us all these years, not forgetting the number of times we made them go crazy with our pranks.
Thanks.
