I'm a guy, and the last 2 years, i've lived in a dorm. in the winter, when it's cold in the buildings, i throw on my homer simpson slippers, and my fuzzy bathrobe over my pajamas. If i'm dressed like this, and i wanna go out of my room for anything, i never bother to change. I've got to friends rooms, common areas, studying center, the "convenient store" in the dorm complex, etc... dressed like this. Most mornings when i'd go to breakfast, i'd wear my robe and slippers down to the dining hall. Peopole would give me looks or compliments when they saw me, I got lots of laughs. I rately saw anyone else like this, never any guys. Only a few girls wore robes outside of going to the bathroom for showering. Would you wear a fuzzy robe and cool slippers out in the dorms to be seen by others? Is it more normal for a girl to do this than a guy?

Well I'm a girl still I think whatever works. You said it is really cold in the winter so i can understand why you would do that. True you could change but if you are comfortable why not.

yes! exactly. i feel like alot of people who wear robes in the dorms to stay warm change before they leave their rooms... that doesn't make any sense to me

Yeah, that definitely makes sense, and very well could be what alot of people are like. I guess i've always just looked at it like people think it's embarrassing to be seen wearing a bathrobe and slippers, especially if its a fuzzy robe and character slippers like mine. I can see that, i know that I don't look like the most masculine guy when i'm dressed like that, and i definitely get alot of stares, but when it comes down to it, i stay warm, i'm comfy, and being able to laugh at myself works as a real good conversation starter!

Maybe they change because the feel their room is private and outside their room is public. You and the other hand feel the whole dorm is private one big family. You wouldn't walk in you rope to the store down the street. This is how the other people may feel who change before they leave their room. Some people are just more private then others. There are people who are very private within their family. However you do send a signal to the other students that the dorm is one big family. Just my opinion I could be wrong.

I agree that being comfortable is way more important than what you look like: function over fashion . I like to wear a robe aswell, especially on sunday mornings or late in the evening. I have a fuzzy pink one with strawberries and polka dots and Hello Kitty embroided on my chest. It's very comfortable (and a present from my boyfriend aswell), so I couldn't care less what people think about my robe when I have it on. It's snuggly!

Good for you! For me, like, I'm sure i look silly, especially in the homer slippers, but it's just so comfy that I don't wanna change!

I think any kind of clothes is good as long as the person wearing it is comfortable. I'm a girl and when I go to college in the Fall, I'm bringing my blue fluffy robe in case it gets cold. People probably don't care what their fellow floor mates wear anyways.

I agree! If you're comfortable, why should you care what other people think of what you're wearing! If you end up wearing you robe around as much as i do, it's easily gonna be your favorite thing in your dorm!
