Do you place pandan leaves on top of the rice whenever you cook rice? I usually do it because of the sweet smell of pandan leaves especially when the rice boils and is ready to eat. Rice smells good and pandan leaves also add a little sweet flavor to the rice.

Yes i agree to that levite. My grandmother always does that when she cooks our rice. Its sweet smell makes me crave for more rice. I am a big fan of rice. My day is incomplete without it. Though i cannot smell the sweet fragrance of pandan due to my cold.

Agree to that fact levite. Wow, your reputation got high for just a while. Congratulations to you. From number 7 to 9.. You must have been really active here. I was away for sometime because of some internet connection problem. Now that we only have 1 connection, my siblings and i are kind of fighting just to gain access with the internet. I hope the other one will be fixed next time.

Yes, I have been active and I make it sure that I post quality posts here. I think the one subject that I have tackled that draws my color and rank higher is the one about computer wherein I got 23 responses. Yet others have got even more, it's just okay, I'm just having fun here.. Anyway, back to the subject, are you familiar with "binirhen rice," I have eaten that rice when I was just a kid and I'm eager to eat that type of rice, only rice available here are 4-star, and others all from Nueva ecija..

Hi there friend, it's good you're back! Rice is really a staple food for Filipinos. We cannot eat a normal diet without it as Americans cannot eat without hamburger . And pandan adds to our craving for rice. Tasteless rice becomes a little bit sweet when pandan leaves are added, agree?

Pandan leaves is a tropical plant in the screwpine genus which is commony known as pandan. It is an erect green plant with fan-shaped sprays of long, narrow, blade-like leaves and woody aerial roots. It is common in SouthEast asia. I don't know if it's available in India. It can be used as flavoring in rice and other cuisines mostly in Southeast asia.

My Mom always put pandan leaves whenever she cook rice and it smell so good. And I think, the good thing about it also, is even though you cook rice that aren't very expensive, but if you add pandan leaves in your rice it will taste, smell and looks expensive.

We are always cooking pure denorado rice which is naturally sweet smelling as pandan so I don't really use pandan anymore for my rice. But I do love pandan and I am using them for my desserts like macapuno, sweet bananas and the likes. Of course I also love the very popular buko pandan dessert so pandan is a plant I do love to keep in my garden.I love its aroma and the benefits it give as well.

hello levite, no we don't cover rice while cooking usually, but some sweet cakes made from rice paste mixed with grated coconut are wrapped in leaves of turmeric or plantain and steamed, it gives kind of flavor to those cakes.
thanks for this nice discussions.
god bless
