A friend in need is a friend indeed. Do you agree with this? Is this just a phrase for you. Someone who comes to your aid when you are in difficulty is a true friend. Comment on this and put your own views

There is another version of this, r u aware of that mastinet "A friend in need is no friend of mine". :-) Well, I hope my friends are never in need. And if ever they are, I hope I have enough to spare them, be it money, time, energy, or understanding, whatever. And I hope I have enough understanding and forgiveness in my heart to accept them when they do not or cannot come to my aid in similar situation. :-) And I hope I too may never put my friends to such tests. :-)

There are many meanings given, but mostly there are two meanings i can see: 1- it means that friends who are there when we need them are true friends. 2- it means that friends only come to you when they need help. Someone is supposed to be your friend. They forget to meet you at the mall. Oh, well, they're still your friend. You want to borrow their cell phone to make a call. They tell you they're out of minutes. Oh, well, they're still your friend. They were supposed to send you that recipe before the dinner party. They forgot. Oh, well, they're still your friend. However, they suddenly need to borrow a hundred dollars. NOW they're a REAL friend. They promise to meet you on time, and to let you use the cell when you want, and to come cook for your dinner party...yes...a friend in need...they're suddenly a really good friend. Indeed.

Yes I agree with the saying, "A friend in need is a friend indeed". I have constantly found myself in many troubling situations in my college life and there are always these three friends who have helped me get out of those sticky situations. I am quite vunerable to college politics and always get entangled in controversy. My college life was a nightmare, but these friends did what they can in their capacity to help me. I cannot think what would have happened to me, if they were not around with me. Hence, I sincerely and truly believe in the saying.

Yes i do agree. My friends have helped me in my times of bad fortune, without any expectations. I am lucky to have a few genuine frds. I am still on the way to recovery and i want very badly to help them too when i am fully recovered. thx
