I am planning to buy a new computer. But the problem is that even new computer will become old model in just six months. I bought a computer for my father one year back now it is outdated. Parts are not available. Now PCI and AGP slots are replaced with PCI express slots. I have a option that is going for the high end system. That will cost me more than 35000. Ofcourse life of that also not more than two years. I am in full confusion on whether to contine with same old PC of mine with 1.6 Ghz processor or go for new one. Problem with system is i am not able to install any new OS. That will keep me away from new features and enhancements of technology.

i have a suggestion, its a high end (the highest you can go) and it will save you 25000 cause it would only cost you around 9000 or 10000 or even less if you willing to sacrifice some additions. go to alienware's site and find thier alx desktop model, the base price is around 3000 but if you want it to last id say for at least 3 or 4 years you may want to customize it (they will give a customize option which can raise or lower the price i advise the raizing due to the fact you can get the top of the line components for under 10 grand. the one i customized had 24 gb ram, dual 2 tb hdds , a blue ray, dvd, and cd read and writer for all (even blue ray writer, with an added bay having cd+rw and dvd+rw with lightscribe, it also had tv tuner with remote, an intel i7 core with some kind of addition putting it ahead of the standard i7, plus nvidias top gfx card supporting all thier technology including the 3d vision, i havent found a single pc yet that is able to match it in performance and no standard brand pc will catch up for at least a year due to the fact the 8 gb pcs are the ones you are referring to and they are considered top of the line at the moment yet the one i customized had 24 gb. it should solve your problem for a long time not to mention the resell value even on older alienware models remains high on ebay even if its an old model (a year 2003 alienware laptop not even listed on the site anymore was sold for 4 grand on ebay yet it only cost the previous owner 3 grand XD so its a really good buy if you can manage the cost , if i had that kind of money i would buy 3 with no second thought XD

That's just how things are these days, upgrades are things of the past. Which ever specs you select the low end or the high end, they'll both go passe in a matter or months. Then take advantage of your not too critical specs requirements which surely fits well your budget. Their performance difference is not that much anyway.
