food or money?

I always bump into so many street kids some looking as young as 5 and they all borrow money. Sometimes i wonder whether its better to give them the money or pop into some fast food and buy them food instead, since the money given to them mostly ends up being used on drugs from what i understand. So i ask, should we give them money or buy them food?
