hi citychic well I am stuck here ina retirement center and each'month they celebrated the birthdays of the residents whose birthdays are in that month. We usually have some sort of really fancy scrumpious cake and punch or lemonade.we usually play some sort of silly games and Act like old fools .but we have a good time considering its not the ideal place to be if you can have your own apartment and live with your family.

Hello Hatley, it's always nice hearing from you. I hate to think that you are stuck there in a retirement home but it sure does sound like you all be having a pretty good time over there. Did you happen to read my poem that I posted here on the mylot site? Please look under my discussion. "If I were a nursing home Administrator" I hope you will enjoy it and please be sure to leave some comments. Anyways I have a few older friends that I try to help bring some joy into their lives. Mind you I'm almost certain that they got their own ways of having fun on the side going on whenever I'm not around but anyways, thank you very much Hatley for reminding me about it. B/c I need to get in touch with one of them very soon. I'd hate to think that the poor lady one is stuck here with few friends and family around. Heck if I hadn't of found mylot there's no telling what I'd be doing by now, they might have had to come and lock me away in a crazy house. Hee hee hee, Just kidding friend. Anyways you take care over there and maintain your sense of humor and trust and believe that God will see you through. Keep the faith alwaysHappy mylot! PS: Don't forget to read my poem and let me know how you like itGood night dear!

My birthday is actually at the end of September but it's on a Tuesday so I'm really not sure how I'm going to spend the evening. I work all day and won't get home until about 5 or later and my partner has classes all evening so I doubt I'll actually get to go out on my birthday even though I'd rather go out and buy a birthday dinner then sit at home and have a dinner here. On your birthday when you go out you tend to get free stuff if you go to the right places! I'd like to spend it doing something nice. You know, something with presents and a cake but a nice dinner as well. However I'm really not sure what will happen. I really won't know until the day comes sadly.

Thanks for sharing my friend, yes I know what you mean, a small intimate dinner is always very nice, with the person that you care about. But if they want to do like a surprise get together at home and have presents and friends all around, that would be very nice to. I guess the important thing is that somebody recognizes that we were born on that special day. Even if no gifts are passed around it seems like the older we get, the less extravagant. So in most cases a simple happy birthday would do.

In my family we do not do much for adult birthdays, but we do try to make sure that the children feel special and have a nice time on their birthdays, you know, with presents cake and all.

Yeah I know what you mean Angrykitty, birthdays aren't really such a big deal in alot of families. Mine was the same way. Nowadays we celebrate if we have something to celebrate with but if not we just tell the person happy birthday then keep right on going. But for the small kiddies we always try to do something even if it's only to cook a cake and have some ice-cream! Thanks for responding

A simple dinner with my family is enough. I don't really have grand celebration even when I was young and its fine with me. I am a practical person and know how every penny worth. But when it comes to other person, I tend to be generous. There has been no birthday in the family that I have not given a gift or at least cook the celebrant's favorite dish. I always have this favorite site for gift ideas and maybe it will help you too http://www.gifti.us.

Hello, hey, ladyblonde, you are a very practical person just like myself, I'm very pleased to meet you. Please be sure to add me as a friend and thank you very much for the link, I will be sure to check it out. I personally don't believe that we should go all out when it comes to celebrating birthdays simply because it can tend to get a bit too expensive. Even if we just do the bare minimum for others. A card and a birthday cake can still run you over ten dollars these days and that's if you decide to cook the cake yourself. So I just try to be practical and use wisdom. Thanks for responding................ CC!

Celebrating birthday calls for friends & family. Since my family is not around at the moment, I would rather hang out with my friends for half of the day & the with my lady love for the rest of the day to some exotic places. ya ofcourse a surprise birthday party or gift for me will be ready with my friends.

What a nice way to spend ur birthday Tastheone, I know the lady love of your life will be very happy to spend time with you. She would be one lucky girl whoever she is. Well I'm sure you will have a few drinks so have one on me the next time you decide to celebrate your birthday and remember that however we choose to celebrate them is a very personal choice. Cheers!

My birthday is September 11th!! Ok, While I don't think this is the time for asking for extravagant gifts (though extravagant for me is a hair cut, lol) I will stress having a day to myself. I'll spend the entire day in our NEW mall bookstore opening, probably find a comfy chair looking down to the lower floor and just relax, aww. None too picky

My birthday is almost a week away it will be a week from Saturday. I will be going to Disney World as i only live about 2 hours south from there. That Saturday is also a Florida Gators game so we will be eating at the ESPN club so i can watch that and enjoy the game and hopefully play some arcade games like a little kid again. It will be a lot of fun and i can't wait. I hope to see a friend of mine also working at Disney and i will be with my Parents so it will be a lot of fun and hopefully go to a mall so i can do some shopping of course.

Hey lologirl, your birthday sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun. I hope that it turns out to be everything that you're hoping it will be and even more. I'll have one coming up this year too and I'm hoping to be able to spend it doing something kind of big. But sense we can't talk about landmarks up here then I won't bother to go into the details. Anyways, thanks for sharing and enjoy your birthday!

My next birthday isn't until March so I haven't really thought about it too much yet. The most important thing to me on my birthday is spending it with my family, if I can. I'd love to be able to spend a few days with my family and do some fun things such as shopping, movies, bowling, etc.

My next birthday will not come until July, but I know exactly how it will be spent. I will invite my family and friends over for a bbq, we will have a pinata for the kids, and we will probably play cards. I love spending time w/everyone relaxing.
