Proverbs 27:2 Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; someone else, and not your own lips. We don't have to brag on ourselves. We should do nothing to bring honor and glory to ourselves anyway. Our desire is to bring honor and glory to God not ourselves. If we desire recognition here on earth then guess what? That is all the honor you are going to get. You are getting yours here on earth. Do it quietly and for God's honor and glory and expect no recognition here on earth and your rewards will be GREAT in Heaven before God! Wow, that was a bit of a downer. I know that what you speak is true but how about centering around praising God. That is what I like to do anytime of the day. I have found that if you go to bed praising God, you just may end up waking up doing the same thing. I like to think on all the amazing things about God. I like to think about the universe (especially at night when the stars are out) and tell God how much I appreciate His awesomeness. Then I think about how much he loves all of us and there is no reason to bang my own drum. Only to praise Him.

Yes, that is what we are put here on earth to do is bring God all honor and glory and give Him all the honor and glory. We are to point everything we do to God! Unfortunately, we don't always do that in this imperfect world. Thanks for your comments.

I've been telling myself that. Every time I do something I think is good, I remind myself that that is something I should be doing all the time, no matter what.
