Just a shot in the dark. I have always had this inclination that they do. I can be paranoid sometimes though.

All microwaves leak around the door. The older the microwave; the worse it is. Start them, then walk away from them until they are done.

I think that over 90% of things we use everyday have cancer causing chemicals in them. including the air we breathe. That said, in my opinion, I believe that in one way or another, microwaves could potentially cause cancer. How is another question and I am not really sure of the answer.

I don't know if I believe it or not! My grandma has always believed this though. I'm sure there have been studies done on it before, I've just never bothered to research it. lol So now that I am curious, I did do some research. I found this article that says Microwaves do not cause cancer. http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/environment/cellphone.html And I found this paragraph on another site: Research into microwave ovens and cancer Studies have looked at the possible link between microwave ovens and cancer. Some results suggest there may be a link but other studies haven’t been able to prove this at all. Microwaves do produce a magnetic field while they are in use. This drops sharply the further you are from the oven and doesn't last long, as you tend to cook in microwaves for very short periods. Most experts say that microwave ovens don’t give off enough energy to damage the genetic material (DNA) in cells so they can’t cause cancer.
