got real friends in chat, anyone?

it was college days when i started using the internet because i always have to wait for my father while he was attending a conference. we used to chat online. then someone from the net invited me to join a certain channel in the MIRC. out of boredom, so i did. the channel that i joined was fun. we were all students at that time, from different universities. we all graduated eventually. despite our busy schedules, we tend to meet whenever possible...watching movies, dinner or just talking over a cup of coffee and sleepovers! sometimes, we play paintballs or badminton just to loosen up from pressures of work or study coz some of us took some masters. even our parents were amazed of the friendship that we're having. oh well, 13 years and still counting...

back in college days, the most popular i knew was Opti-chat and from there i got to know a few text mates. but they didn't last long. and one just puke me in my birthday when she and i were supposed to meet. i still text and chat some of my friends but only once in a while since they are much busy than before.

Well, messenger and chatroom is a place of many people to gather and find friends, and to be honest, I have found lots of real friend in the online world, but none of them are from the chat room. Maybe, there is a friend of mine in the chat room bot I have never knew that, but yeah, I chatted with lots of real friends on the net too, via messengers...
I used to be active in MIRC, but I am not anymore. Too many fake IDs there and I really couldn't believe most of the people there. There used to be the private channel where only friends gather there, but the channel is no longer existed since there is messenger.

oh yes klaudine, better be careful about that coz nowadays, internet is taken advantaged by some people who just want to defraud others. i'm just glad that i experience the positive aspect of the internet. still, not bad to apply good faith. just be watchful. :)

That's true. I don't think chatroom is a safe place anymore. Except it is a private chatroom where you know each of the members there. As a person who has been long in the online world, I believe you know how to differenciate which one is fraud and fake account and which one is the real friend. I am so glad to know that you got the positive of the chatroom, I hope one day I would be able to find one from chatroom as well.
For me, so far, I only got real friends from online world, from forums only. It is a really good place to find someone with the same interests with you.
